In marriage there should be n congeniality of alTeeiion and feeling. No lady shot-Id ever pledge her hand tonne who has not her heart. From this principle she should not be seduced by wealth, of fame or laients, or misled by officious friend. Her individual Inppiness is at stake, and her choice, which is to fix her destiny for life, should be, I do not say unadvised, but certainly, unconstrained brothers. There is too often one sad heart amid the festive joy of the hymeneal hour.

The heart feels as if the decorations of

the scene were its fillits for the alter of sacrifice. The hand under foreign dictation and control is y ielding to one. but the heail has irrecoverably fixed its choice upon another. As well might philosophers attempt to control the magic influence of gravitation, as parents or guardians attempt to awaken and divert the cbanel of a diverted heart, by iheir own mercenary views. Fatal have been the consequences, when parental authority has compelled a merely licen?d union, for which the heart felt a cherished disgust.

When the sufferer is an adult, the case is very frequently overlooked, and, consequently, the proper remedy is not applied. But when the patient is an infant, if the disease is not entirelyneglected.it is still, too frequentby, ascribed in whole or part, to some other cause. It ought here to be particularly remarked, that altbougb but few worms may exist in a child's bowels, and how quiescent soever they may have been, previously, no sooner is the constitution invaded by any of the numerous train of diseases to to which infancy is exposed, than it is fearfully augmented by their irritation. Hence it is too frequently happens that a disease otherwise eaei-y managed by proper remedies, when aggravated by that cause, bids defiance to treatment judicious in other respects; but which entirely fails, in consequence of Worms being overlooked. And even in case of greater violence, if a potent and prompt remedy were possessed, so that that they could be expelled, without loss of time, which is bo precious in such cases, the disease might be 'attacked, by prompt remedies, even-banded and witb success. Baltimore, June 10, IS45. Messrs Sands Gents: Most cheerfu'lv

do I add to the numerous testimonials of your life preservative Sarsaparilla. I was

attacked in the year 1&M9 with a 'scrofulous affection on my upper lip, and continuing upward taking hold of my nose and surround

ing parts, until the passage for conveying tears from the eye to the nostril were destroyed, which caused an unceasing flow of tears. It also effected my gums, causing a discharge very unpleasant, and my teeth became so loosa that it would not have been a hard task to pull them out with a slight jerk such were my feelings at ibis time that I was rendered perfectly miserable. I consulted the first Physician in the city, but with little benefit. Every thing I heard of was tried, but all proved of no service, and as a last resort was recommended change of air; but this. like other remedies,

did no good; the disease continued gradual! to increase entil my whole body was affected. But thanks to humanity, my Phy

sician recomirended your preparation of Sargaparilia, I procured from your agent

in this city, Dr, Jas A. Reed,6 bottlee; and in less lime lhan three months was restored to health and happiness. Your Sarsaparilla alone eiTected the cure, and with

a desire that the afiiicted may no longer suffer, but use the ri:Iit medicine and be

free from disease, with feelings of joy and gratitude I remain your friend, DANTELMcCOXXIKAN. Anyone desiring to know further particulars will find me at my residence in Front street, where it will afford me pleasure to communicate any thing in relation to this cure. DANIEL McCONNIKAX. Personally appeared before me the above named Daniel McConnikan, and made oath of the facts connected in the foregoing statement JOIINCLOLD, Justice of Peace of the City of Baltimore. New-Brunswick, N. J., Sep. 25, 1643. Messrs. Sands Gentlemen lean speak from a very gratifying personal experience of the great value of your preparation of Sarsaparilla- For about nine months I suffered beyond .expression from an attack of that Prosean and destroying disease, Neuralgia, by which I was rendered incapable of attending my ordinary employment: For months I was unable to write a line or bold a pen, or convey food to my mouth; and such was my bodily distress, that to sleep, except in brief catches after extreme exhaustion, was impossible. TLe medical treatment usual in this disease availed me nothing, and I was at last persuaded to try your Sarsaparilla. Before the second bottle was quite used, the diseaso abated. 1 continued to take it to the amount of;six bottles and was perfectly relieved, and. I hope parmanently no indication of a relapse having appeared yet. I belieue yoou have not claimed for your Sarsaparilla that it is particalarly adapted to the tormenting disease to which 1 was subject: but I have no doubt it was the means of my recovery, and should have no hesitation is recommending it to others who may be euffering from Neuralgia. The rationale of its success is, I think, not difficult of explanation. (jj-Several metallic preparations, such as nitrate of silver and arsenic, Lave been much relied on in late years, but tLey failed in my case. ... , ResnecifulJy. your friend and obedient

servant,

C. HOOVER.
