DOCTOR M'LANE S Celebrated Liver Pill, For the Cure of Hepatites or Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia and Sick Head-Ache. Symptoms of A Diseased Liver! Pain in the right side, under the edge o. the ribs, increased on pressure; sometimes the p&in is in the left side; the patient is rarely eblc to lie on the loft side; some times tha pain is felt under the shoulderblade, and it frequently extends to the top of the shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken for a rheumatism in the right orm. The stomach is affected with loss of appetite aud sickness; the bowlcs, in general, are costive, sometimes alternative with lax; tho head is troubled with pain accompani ed with a dull, heavy sensation in the back part. This is generally a considerable Joss of memory, accompanied with a painful sensation of having left undone eomething which ought to have been done. A slirht, dry cough is sometimes an attendant. The patient complains of weariness snd debility; he is easily startled, his feet are cold or burning, and he complains of a prickly sensation of the skin; I119 spirits are low; and although he is satishcd that exercise would be beneficial to him, yet he can scarcely summon up fortitude enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts every remedy. Several of the above symptoms attend the disease, but cases have occurred where few of them existed, yet examination cf the bodv after death has shown the liver to have been extensively derangedDESSRRTA TlOX O.V DISEASES LVD ICED BY WOR.MS. Few diseases to which the human body is liable, are better entitled to the attention of the parent or philanthropist than thore consequent on the irritation of worms on the stomach and bowels. When the suf ferer is an adult, the case is very frequent ly overlooked, and, consequently, the prop er remedy is not applied. But when the patient is an infant, if the disease is not entirely neglected, it is still, too frequentby, ascribed in whole or part, to some other cause. It ought here to be particularly remnrked, that although but few worms may exist in a child's bowels, and how quiescent soever they may have been, previously, no sooner is the constitution invaded by any of the numerous train of diseases to to which infancy is exposed, than it is fearfully augmented by their irritation. Hence it is too frequently happens that a disease otherwise easiy managed by proper remedies, when aggravated by that cause, bids de6ance to treatment judicious in other respects; but which entirely fails, in consequence of Worm9 being overlooked. And even in case of greater violence, if a potent and prompt remedy were possessed, so that that they could be expelled, without loss of time, which is so precious in such casos, the disease might be attacked, by prompt remedies, even-handed and with success. .4eiift R. 4- S. Tho following letter, recently received by the proprietors or this invaluable mediicine, will be read with interest by all similarly afllicted. Baltimore, June 10, IS45. Messrs Sands Gents: Most cheerfully do I add to the numerous testimonials of your life preservative Sarsaparilla. I was attacked in the year ISo'J with a scrofulous affection on my upper lip, and continuing upward taking hold of my nose and surrounding parts, until the passage for conveying tears from the eye to the nostril were destroyed, which caused an unceasing flow of tears. It also effected my gums, causing a discharge very unpleasant, and my teeth became so loose tint it would not have been a hard task to pull them out with a slight jerk such were my feelings at Ibis time that I was rendered perfectly miserable. 1 consulted the first Physician in the city, but with little benefit. Every thing I heard of was tried, but all proved of no service, and as a last resort was recommenced change of iir; but this, like other remedies, did no good; the disease continued gradu al! to increase until my whole body wag af fected, uut thankg to humanity, my Phy sician recommended jour preparation of Sarsaparilla, I procured from your agent in this city, Dr, Jas. A. Reed, 6 bottles; and in less time than three months was re stored to health and happiness. Your Sar saparilla alone effected the cure, and with a desire that the afllicted mav no longer suffer, but use the right medicine and be free from disease, with feelings of joy and gratitude I remain your friend, DANIEL McCONNlKAN. Anyone desiring to know further particulars will find mo at my residence in Front street, where it will afford me picastire to communicate any thing in relation to this cure. DANIEL McCONNlKAN. Personally appeared before me tho above named Daniel McConnikan, and made oath of the facta connected in the foregoing statement JOHN CLOUD, Justice of Peace of the City of Baltimore. New-Brcnswick, N. J., Sep. 25, 1543. Messrs. Sands Gentlemen lean speak from a very gratifying personal experience of the great value of your preparation o Sarsaparilla- For about nine months 1 suffered beyond (expression from an attack of that Prosean and destroying disease, Neuralgia, by which I was rendered incapable of attending my ordinary employment; For months I was unable to write a line or hold a pen, or convey food to my mouth; and such was my bodily distress, that to sleep, except in brief catches after extreme exhaustion, was impossible. The medical treatment usual in this disease availed me nothing, and 1 was at last persuaded to try your Sarsaparilla. Before the second bottle was quito used, the disease abated. 1 continued to take it to the amount of six bottles, and was perfectly relieved, and I hope permanently no indication of a relapse having appeared yet. I believe you have not claimed for your Sarsaparilla that it is particalarly adapted to the tormenting disease to which 1 was subject- hut I have no doubt it was the means of my recovery, and should have no hesitation is recommending it to others who may be euffering from Neuralgia. The ra tionale of its success is, I think, not difficult of explanation. 03"Several metallic preparations, such as nitrate of silver and arsenic, have been much relied on in late years, but they failed in mv case. Respectfully, your friend and obedient servant, C. HOOVER. For further particulars and conclusive evidence of its superior value and efficacy, see pamphlets, which may be obtained or agents gratis. Prepared and sold, wholesale and retail, by A. B- 6, D. SANDS, fFholesale Drug, iet, 79 Fulton street New York. Sold also by Druggists generally throughout the United States. Price, $1 per bottle; six boitles for $503" The public are respectfully requested to remember that it is Sand'a Sarsaparilla that has and is constantly achieving such remarkable cures of the most difficult class of diseases to which the(-iii frame is subject; therefore ask for Sand's Sarsaparilla, and take no other. oni uenets we aoareesyeu, an pon important subject; on which deeply effects your interests; we therefore earnestly solicit your candid and careful attention. In presenting this subject we have in view, we would refer you to the following well known gentlemen. We do this, being fully aware that such names are only needed to give character and import tance to any subject; we therefore, would urge upon all, who after carefully reading this article, feel they are interested, to call upon the gentlemen referred to, and "see whether these things are so." The above gentlemen have either used, or are agents for the sale of the famous, and justly celebrated " Jew Davids or Hebrew Plaster" and "Resurrection or Per sian Pt7f,"and have recently been supplied with them anew and can testify to their exalted character, and also furnish uncontrovertable proof as to their virtues and efficacy, in all cuses for whicb, eitber the "He brew Plaster, or "Persian Pills," are recommended. The success of these Medicines in the Eastern States, and W. T.. Ohio, Pa., Nichigan, Illinois.and this State and indeed wherever introduced, have been unprecedented in the annals of medicines, clearly proving the fact, that when a medicine possessing real merit and great medical virtues, is offered to the public, it will meet with a success commensurate with its worth. The character of the "Hebrew Plaster" and "Persian Pills," is fairly established , and upon a firmer basis than any other medicines of which we have any knowledge. Having, for six years successfully met and warded off the shafts of malice and envy, which by the interested, have been hurled against them and by their wonderful cures; done away with all prejudice heretofore exsting against patent remedies, we have good grounds for the assertion, that we sincerely believe there is no medicine that gives such general satisfaction and fails ia so few instances to benefit all who use them as the "Hebrew Plaster" and "Persian Pills." This is said after mature delibera tion and in no spirit of boasting. We wish the medicine to stand upon its own merit, therefore shall not attempt to give it character bv Duffs or ficticious rprtifif ntpa. an I such a course never add tn the virions nf any medicine, but ia sure soon to meet its just reward ;from an enlightened public. Of the"Hebrew Plaster," we remark that the peculiarities of this Chemical Compound, are owiug to its extraordinary effect upon the animal fibre or nerves, ligaments and muscles; its virtues being carried by them to the immediate scat of disease, or ofpain and weakness, However good any internal remedy mny be, this, as an external application, will prove a powerful auxiliary in removing the disease and facilitating the cure in cases of ocal Inflammation, Scrofulous Affections, King's Evil, Gout, Inflammatory and Chronic Rheumatism, and in all cases where seated pain or weakness exists. We have likewise witnessed the happy effects of its softening and healing qi alitics n numberless cases of Scrofulous Humors. These Pills raise from the greatest weakness, distress, and euffering, to a state of strength, health and happiness. The name of these pills originated from the circumstance of the medicine beinj found only in the cemeteries ofPersia.
