TERRIBLE GALE. Great Lose of Life and Destruction of Property. . The City of Buffalo has been visited by one ofthe mo6t severe and destructive gales which
50 as ever experienced mere. The whole low
er pari 01 111 cny is one general scene of wreck and desolation, throughout the whole length ofthe city. The water was all or two feet higher than it had ever been known before. In addition to the immense logs of property, we have to record still more melancholy results in the death of a large number of human beings. The damage done to the shipping in the harbor is immense. The wharves were much injured. The stone pier also gave way and much of it was washed into the creek. The U. S.ship Albert, and some fifteen other ships and steamers, were driven aground some totally destroyed, and all more or less injured. Buildings and chimneys were blown down before the terrible hurricane. The destruction of Vmisn life was awful. Forty two dead bodies have already been found. It is impo:M? to ascertain the loss of life, but it is suppnscd to be very large, as at every house dead bodies were being found. Vermont Medio of a V. S.
