They form a very considervhle portion of the circulating medium in many parts of the State, passing at a value below par; and a re-issue would inevitably produce their farther depreciation, thereby inflict

ing an aJJitioual loss upon the people which they coul J illy endure. Throwing these Notes again into circulation, is to require the people to a?ain redeem them, and it is respectfully submitted, w hether it would not be the better course to resort to such temporary loans as might be found expedient and praetieable. The Slate Agent has not been able to submit tha report of his operations: but I am author

ized by him to say that the situation of the suspended debt on account of bonds sold by the State, remains nearly as stated in bis report of la.u year. Much of this debt is hope

entertained by some, lhat as the bonds wer.

grratit tiepreciated. and the Slate had a. red to receive them at their f.ce. that no inconsiderable portion ,r the public debt would in thU way be liquidated. Uut there have been a yet no propositions submitted for the return ofour bonds in this mode, and we cannot reasonably expect any reltef from this provision of the above named act. The State Dank of Indiana stili maintains her credit, and with the improvement of the tunes will be able to resume her usefulness. The question no longer admits t.f a doubt that ibis instiitttion under the same prudent management which has sustained it thus far will sntvive the difficulties and embarrasn.enis
