In regard to so-.n? of the expenditures of the Army, the committee; sad, and abundantld prove, (see House; Report 45S)that "the cxisence of the Flori.l i war has aflbr ded an emplc occasion for draining the public treasury. In every department of the sevice connected with it, extravagance of the most unprecedented character has been indulged. In the purchase of supplies, in the transportation, by land or water, of soldiers or store ?, the public money h ie been wasted by th ) -e charges with its disbursement. Already has there been expended mr.ny millions of dollars, in prosecution of a war against a band of savages, which, from the outset has not furnished a? many hundred warriors to oppose. The cmtmitte have ascertained
that, within five yean? from the outbreak of hostilities in that Territory, between the lt of
January, 1833, and 1st of Janmry. 1S-11, there have been employed in the transportation service seren hundred an 1 ihirly-sfren siea.nhcatr. brigs a.ul schooners. Many of them hare bcc:i
employed, at a per diem pay. until th,". price of
their hire has quadruple the sum at which, originally, they covldhave been purchased. In reference to the hire of the steamboat John Crowell, General Jessup. hi reply to the call cf the commiitee, snys that she was hired at the price of "three hundred dollars a day, and her expenses and insurance." "She was not worth 13,000 dollars, and one hundred dollars a day would have been an extravagant hire for her." For the entire period she was in service, the Government has paid eighty two thousand five
hundred and fifty-five dollars'.'' . The following was paid out of a fund i:for the suppression of Indian hostilities." The articles" are not a matter more striking than the prices; and after reading the items you must not wonder wdiat has made or how the Govern
ment has become bankrupt. 1838. For the purchase of 298 oxen For pay of agent in making purchases and delivering at Fort White 139 oxen, For expenses in purchasing and delivering said oxen.

This administration like the Jackson despotism overawes and intimidates the employers of the

Invitations were seid to the President and his famiiy, and to the families of the Heads of Departments, and they not only had not the magnanimity to go, but not even the ordinary politeness to return an apology. It was mean cowardly and contemptible. All the foreign ministers and their suit attended. Lord Ashburton remained a short time, but his secretaries and
attaches continued through the evening and joined in the dance. Mr. Dodisco, who has a
high admiration of 3Ir. Clay, and his beautiful
wife, showed their respect by coming early, and continuing till the close of the festivities. The system of intimidation practised by this
administration is as paralyzing as was that of
Jackson, and the revenge is as paltry. The President in his circular, declared that all per
