This vauabe medicine netds no other recom
mendation than the general character which it has acquired in the several years it has been used in the western country. Tha proprietor having had

fipllE author of this article is very desirous that
Ja. his viaws and assertions should not oe " mis
understood, and that the public should know the
real merits and effects of so important a remedy
He will state a few facts on which the reader may
most implicitly rely. They are true. It is averted most solemnly and seriously, and the person
who will investigate will fiud them invariable.
On this assertion the author pledges his reputation and character not oily as a man and physician, bu
as a moral and correct good citizen. Wa repeat,
this medicine is all it professes to bo." Gentlemen have told the proprietors often, that whether prudent or not they feel perfectly safe from any fever while they have the article. They can always throw off the worst kind of fevers in a fv hours, if taken at the commencement. They rise from its aie without the least debility, and feel perfectly free, well and bright. Will not the public give it a trial An uncommon fact is, that this remedy is a syrap palatable and pleasant to tha t8te,and children take it always with tlie greatest readiness. The proprietor is nav making rapid arrange

druggist and apothecary in this country. It rony

HESE medicines are indebted for their
name to their manifest and sensible action
m pumyuig me springs and channels or liie, ana euduing them with renewed tone and vigor, and
lo the undoubted tact that at a very early period
in their biotory they had rescued sufferers from
trie very verge of an untimely grave, alter all the
deceptive nostrums i the day, prescribed oy physicians, had utterly failed, in which cases they also permanently secured that uniform enjoyment of health, without which life itself is but a partial blessing. So great indeeJ had their efficacy invariably proved, that it was scarcely less than mi
raculous to those who were unacquainted with the
beautifully philosophical principles upon which they were compounded, and upon which they con
sequently act.
TUB FHCEMX BITTERS are so called be-
eause they possess tha power of restoring the ex
piring embers of health, to a glowing vigor throughout the constitution, as the Phoenix is said to be restored to life from the ashes of its own dissolution. The Pbaanix Bitters are entirely veg
etable, composed of rocts found only in certain
parts of the western country, which will infallibly
cure Fbvsjrb ahd Agues of all kinds; will never
fail to eradicate entirely all the effects of Mercury,
infinitely sooner than the most powerful prepara
t ions of Sarsapanlla, and will immediately cure the determination of blood to the head; never fail in
the sickness incident to young females; and will
be found a certain remedy in all cases of nervous
debility and weakness of the most impaired consti
tntions. Aa a remedy for Chronic and Innamato-
ry Rheumatism, the efficacy of the Phoenix Bitters
will be demonstrated by the use oi a ample uoiui
The proprietor rejoices in the opportunity a nor
ded by the universal diffusion of the press, forpla cing Vegetable Life Medicines within the knowj
edge and reach of every individual in the cominu
nity. Unlike the host of pernicious quackeries
which boast of vegetable ingredients, the Life Pill
are purely and solely vegetable, and contain nei
ther Mercury, Antimony. Arsenic, nor an? other
mineral, in any form whatever. I bey arentirely
composed of extracts from rare and powerful
plants, the virtues of which, though long known
to several Indian tribes, and recently to some cm
inent pharmaceutical chemists, are altogether un
known to the ignorant pretenders to medical sc
ence; and were never before administered in so
happily efficacious a combination.
Their first operation is to loosen from tha coats
of tha stomach and bowels, the various impurities
and crudites constantly settling around them; and to remove the hardened fiecei which collect ia tha
convolutions of the small intestines. Other medi
cinesonly partially cleanse. these, and leave sue
collected masses behind as to produce habitual cos-
tiveness,-with all its train of evils, or sudden diar
rhrea, with U imminent dangers. This fact
well known to all regular anatomists who exanun
the human bowels after death. and hence the pree
udice of thete well informed men against the
quack medicines of tha age. The second effect
tha Vegetable Liife rills is to cleanse the kidneyst
ane the bladder, and by this means, the livar and
tha lungs, the healthful action of which en t rely
depends upon the regularity of tha urinary organs.
Tke Blood, which takes its red color from the agency of the liver and the lungs before t passes into the heart, being thus purified by them, and nou ished by food coming from a clean stomach, courses freely through the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the blooming cheek.
