Mr. McLean was bom in Mason county,
tvy., ou the 10 or Aug., at an early ng he removed with his parents to Warren couuty Ohio. With great energy and persever
since, he prepared himself under the tuition
of his brother, (Hon. Judge McLean)and was
admitted to the bar at the age of 21 years.
He has subsequently filled the respouble dusi-
ties of Receiver of Public monies, al Piqua,
Ohio; member of Congress for the iiflh UiS'
tnct, for six years, nnd more recently a mer
haul in Cinciunnli,and of the house of Reeves
& McLcnn. Al the nee of 16 years he at
Inched himself to the Methodist Episcopal
Church, in which he lm? been a faithful inem
ber ever since. His long nnd painful illness
he bore with Christian fortitude and patience
of urbane and social manners, no man had
less cnimies. Dying, as he lived, full of hope
of immortal life beyond the grave, he has ta
ken from the good man the sting of his loss, in
