in public spirit, or village pride. Tbe principal public buildings are the College buildings, which would be an ornament to any town, especially as

institutions of learning. In our daily walks in any part of the Ore at West, we meet with talented, persevering and promising young men, graduates of the Miami University, whose minds have aarly been imbued with lessons of industry and virtue, uuder the strict discipline of the professors f that institution. We are pleased to learn and sse that this institution is in a prosperous situation at present. We made a visit to Oxford the first of the present week. During the favorable seasons of the

year, it is s pleasant trip to Oxford for those who take a short ride for either health or pleasure. It is sixteen miles from Brookville; and we think that those who travel for pleasure will find one accommodation at Oxford, the lack of which has

marred and destroyed many a pleasure trip. Their accommodations at the Hotels arc good, at least we found every thing nt the Mansion House iu order, neat, clean, and the table such as a hungry man loves to see. The rooms are large and airy and well furnished. We always feci in a good humor when wo receive such accommodations. .To be sure, the landlord is "up to snuff" on a charge, hut every man that travels for pleasure, of course has a plenty of the ready article.
