kas been greater improvement, enlargement and cost incurred by newspaper publishers in Indiana, than the increase of business and advertising will warrant. The spirit of rivalry bas destroyed the business and profits ef most of the establishments,
rendering the. editors too dependent on those who
hare patronage to bestow, and thereby injuring
tbe character and influence of the Press. But it
appears that experience bas not entirely failed in teaching at least some of them beneficial lessons.
Vhe "AirAmoarf Palladium," ene of tbe finest
looking papers in the State, (although the editor
cannot abandon their little acts of editorial mean
ness) has been compelled, we learn from an ex
change, to reduce their sheet. Their sheet was
ample enough for a city paper. Aud the Lawrenceburgb Beacon has given notice, that unless iu patronage is considerably extended in a few months, it will necessarily have to be reduced in aite.
