the Legislature are over 500 dollars per day,

and that the mem hers receive pay for every dyofthis adjournment. Mr. Mount of the &iuale, voted for the adjournment. We have not seen the vote in the lIou?e, but understand that Mr. Matson voted against it, and

that Mr. M'Carlv was absent on account of

A fearful rencontre took place .at Louis

ville, Ivy, on Saturday-night, the 15th fast,

in which two men were instantly killed with

distentions in the Legislature had nearly ceased

as far at least, as to form a quorum for the trans

action of business. A sufficient number of the

whigs lad united with the Van Buren party to

comitate two-thirds of the House, and it was

thought that a few days more would heal all diffi

culty, and that the Legislature would move for-

viri in the business of the State.
