PARTING HAND. My dearest friends in bonds of love, Whose hearts the sweetest union prove; Your friendship's like a drawing band, Yet we must take the parting hand. Your comp'ny sweet, your union dear, Your words delightful to my ear: -But when I find that we must part, You draw like chords around my heart, How sweet the hours have pass'd away, hen we have met to sine and pray;

How loath we've been to leave the place, r w .... ... 1 1

trnere Jesus show d his smiling face. O could I stay with friends so kind.

How it would cbeer my wounded mnd;

nui uuiy makes me understand, That we must take the parting hand. How oft we've seen your flowing tears,

And heard you tell your hopes and fears:

lour hearts with love have seem'd to flame

which makes me hope we'll meet again. Ye mourniug souls in sad surprise, Jesus remembers all your cries; O trust his grace and in that land, We'll no more lake the parting hand. Dear fellow youth, in christian ties, Who seek for mansions in the skies:

t ight od! you'll gain that happv shore,

fuvie parung hands will be iio more.

But since it is God's holy will, We must be parted for a while; In sweet communion, all in one,

We II say "Our Father's will be done."

I hope you'll all remember me, If here my face no more you see; An intVest in your prayers I crave, That we may meet beyond the grave. O glorious day, O Messed hope! My heart ietp forward at the though!; When in that happy, happv land, H e 11 no more take the pa'rting hand. And with one holy, blessed Lord, We'll shout and sing with oue accord; And there we'll all with Jesus dwell, So loving friends, all fare-you-welM

Dr. Dunham's DROPS, or Medicine, for Fever. AS an anti-billious and anti-dyspeptic Medicine, tbe Drops are unrivalled, where they are known, by any -thing yet recommended. Persons who have suffered for years with pain in tbe sidebreast stomach or lungs and when, to all appearances, disease bad made extensive ravages, and seemed to be beyond the control of medicine, have been in all cases of trial greatly benefitted; and in a large majority of instances entirely relieved as the cases of Mrs. Hunter of Lancaster, Miss Burwell of Columbus, and Miss Tiffany of Madison, abundantly testify and many others not

here enumerated, who have been relieved from the

sufferings of periodical sick, or nervous head-ache,

bullous and cramp cholic. These facts in connec

tion with the ease, and the -safety of its administration, render it indeed an interesting and desirable

remedy to every afflicted person. It is given in a little cold 'water, and this agreeable beverage may be drank during its administration, in all cases ex

cept eruptive fevers, such as scarle fever, measles, small pox, Jc, in whih cases warm drinks are only admissible. The dose being small renders it a very convenient medicine for children and infants;

and it operates kinury and promptly in those diseases of a biKious character, Buch as cholic, summer complaint, fits, Sc., w hich either ruin the constitution at this early period of existence, or otherwise terminate in the death of a vast proportion of the children of this countrv. For sale at the Drug Store'of C. CAIN, Rrookville, where additional, certificates and directions may be obtained. CONSUMPTION. IT is calculated from the bills of mortality, that

every fifth person dies of Consumption. The victims to this disease are principally those under Ii")

years of age, comprising the flower and strength of

our couniy. Une of the best remedies ever yet discovered to arrest this direful malady at the very threshold, is the justly celebrated Indian cure for

Coughs, Consumption, Spitting of Blood and Asthma the "Watasia."

Annexed are some of the manr recommendations

that might be given fn in individuals well knewn, and highly respected ii. extensive portions of our I countrv.

The following is from Rev. J. Snauldin?. Sec-

retary of the Western Education Society; Sir. Peck Sear Sir; In reply to your question, "Has the Watasia been of any service!" I at.i happv to say it has succeeded in my family admirably. The case was one of severe Cough, attended with pain in the side or breast, ami thrat.

tbey should not even then despair, for it is not in despair that relief can be found. No. Let them first look around, and, laying aside all prejodices, ask themselves this question "If my physician . t. - a? 1 " -

cannoi ueip me, is uis repuieu ekui my oniy resort!" - Perhaps at that moment the. beading of this advertisement, "Moffat's Life Medicir.es," would

catch their eye; and were they in train divested of

their 1 001 ie h prejudices, they might, perhaps, be induced to inquire whether Mr. Moffat's theory and

treatment of diseases, differed from that of their

own physicians. They would then learn that it did differ, and very widely, and with most happy results, too. If they pursued their inquiries still further, they would find, that all practicing -physicians of the present day prescribe MERCURY, in some form, for almost every disease, and they would learn, too, that mercurial medicines, though they give present relief, undermine the constitution, and slways leave the patient in a precarious state of health. A GOOD VEGETABLE MEDICINE is just the reverse Of all this. For hundreds of vears

Most gratefully and sincerely yours 'GEORGE RISXEB. LETTER FROM WIBBBH PATTER80B. Lockport, Nov. 21th ifon Mr.W.B.Moff.t-De.Vsi'r: As removable instance of the virtue and efficacy of fotfrLife Pill and Phojnix Bitters, in restoring Ion Le.hh tetU afflicted, has occurred in my family, I deem it duty I owe both td yourself and the public, to make the fact known, that others suffering under similar circumstances might perchance see this, and obtain a remedy in season to preserve them from a premature grave. r My wife Las been afflicted with the liver comp.aint and general debility for upwards of tLree years; and lor the last three months she has not been able to-walk across tbe room. After trying various medicines prescribed by various physicians which gave her no relief, she was given up as incurab.c. . In this situation she was gradually faili.g, when I happened to call upon your agent in this village, and ho gave me a copy of the Good Samaritan, the perusing of which induced me to try your medicine, although I had but little hop. of her receiving any benefit from it- TLe effect was surprising. .Before she had taken one boitl of bitters and oue box of pills, she was so far recov-e.-ed as to be able to accomplish most of her Louse work without .assistance.
