Galena. )r.c. IT. TROUBLE AMONG THE INDIANS. By a gentleman just up from the lower part of Wisconsin Territory, we are informed that preat excitement prevails among the Sacs and Foxes, growing ov,t f tjie ,nur(jer of several of their tribe bv a marauding party of Sioux. Several lodges of thcSars and Foxes, numbering something like fifty souls. c:i or near the head waters of the Town River were set upon by a party of Siouxs. and all w ith the exception of ten'mnssacred. These ten escaped and carried the intelligence to (he rest of the tribe, whereupon runners were dispatched to den. Street at Rock Island, soliciting his aid and protection in their behalf. The Indians were much excited and were handing together with Use intention of defending themselves from simli ir attacks. They likewise talk loudlv of milking war upon their enemies, the" Sioux-:, as soon as the grass grows in the sprint. We are further informed, that a lare body of them have come back upon the Government land, and are tamped ten or fifteen miles !rom Uellview. When our informant asked them what they were doing there, they shewed him a written permit which had' been given them, very improperly and certainly unlawful, by some few citizens of Roll vie'.v. to come back on the land and hunt. This is a high move on the part of those who gave this permit to the Indians, and the tuav:iu.8 (.,. i.,.vvot,-ol ovtr this matter srv-vud lose no tune in looking into it, as the Indians have already commenced kiiiing the settlers' hogs, and arc otherwise troubling the settlement. From the report which came in, wc anticipate trouble among the Indians in the Spring, on oar Western frontier, and should think it prudent on (he part of the proper agents, that the matter he seen to in season. Elopement at Boston. The fashionable c:rcle at Boston have been somewhat thrown into a flurry, by the elopement of one of the Belles. It seems that a young man of classical education, imposing manners and fine appearance, visited Nahant during the summer, where he first became acquainted with the young lady, and fell in love with her. The feeling was reciprocated he declared himself and was accepted. Not possessing wealth, whilst the young lady's parents were exceedingly opulent, he dared not nek their consent, and was obliged to resort to stratagem. The family being in want of a coachman, he applied for the place and obtained it, where he was enabled didly to see his betrothed, which resulted in an elopement last
