Her ; j"t y hills nml villovs green An: smiling bright before us; And like a rainbow t i ti is seen Her proud flag waving oer us. Anil there are smiles upon cur lips For those who meet her foomon. For glory's star knows no eclipse N hen smiled upon by woman. For those who brave the mighty deep, And scorn a threat of danger, We'v :es to cheer andtcars to wee;) cvei ocean ranger. Our hearts are v itli our native land, Our song is for ' er freedom; Our prayers are for tbe gallant band Who strikes where I. mor'll lead 'em. We love the taintless air e breathe, ' I'is freedom's endless do, er, We'll twine for him a fadeless 'vreath Who scorns a tyrant's power. They tell of France's beauties rare, Of Italy's proud daughters; On Scotland's lasses Inland's fair, And nymphs of Shannon's waters, We heed not all their boasted charms. The feelings of ihe other sex are not so soft and exquisite as those of ourown.if they w ere, we might possibly be happier, and we mav for a moment wish that they were so, but we shall restrain so selfish a desire, if we reflect how-much more unfit they would be by such a constitution to bear the' crosses and buffets of the world; nnd we shall rejoice that they do not possess our keener sensibilities and rest content with our lot, refusing to increase at their expense ajiappincss, which, if not quite meetingour ideas of perfection, does so sufficiently to make us blest. It is said that "Lover's quarrels," is hut the removal of love. but it is not so in truth. Continued differences and bickerings will undermine the strongest affection, and a wife cannot be too careful to avoid disputes upon the most trival subjects, indeed it is the every day occurrences which try the love and tempers of the married life," great occasion for on irrels seldom occur, llvei " w-Uli pvrrv prejudice, must meet with attention, and the first thought of women should be the pleasing and providing for her husband. It is impossible to enumerate all the little incidents which may annoy married men, or the little ohstrusive pleasure which it is in the power of a wife to give; but throughout her life, in her employments and in her amusements, she must ever bear his pleasure in her mind. She must act for him in preference to herself.and he will be amplly rewarded by witnessing her and his home. To a woman who loves her nature, this will be a pleasure, not a task: but to make him happier bv, she will never grudge any sacrifice of self. The greatest misery a woman can experience is the changed heart and alienated ailections of her husband; but even in that paintul case she must not relax in the perfor-j mance ot tier duties. She must not unbraid -he must hear with fortitude and patience I.- : great disappointment; she must return g -d lor evil to the utmost, and her consolation will he the consciousness that her trials have not their rise or continuance in any dereliction of ath elion or duty on her part. Some women, in order to win back a husband's wandering love.recourse to attempts to arouse his jealousy. but thev are much mistaken in pursuing such a method. A man however debnsscd his conduct, mav be. he will never entirely forget the love he once bore to the pride of his jouth; there are moments when feelings of tenderness for herwill return with force to his heart, and to reap (he benetilsofsuch moment the injured but forgiving wife must still he enshrined in (he puritv of former times.
