VAX BIREN MEETING. fNm our prcsr nt situation we feel it incumbent Sponiis, torcmiml our Van Buren friends, tliat tomorrow week (Nov. 14th) is tlie day designated for holtiinj a Van Buren meeting in this place. The Harrison Meeting convenes tc -morrow in this place, as well as in most of tLe other counties in the State. Springfield Township The Citizens of Springfield will please take notice that the Commissioners lave ordered an election to be held in your township on the fourth Saturday in November 1S35, for the purpose of electing a Justice of the Peace, in the place of James Samuels, Esq., who has removed oat of the county. We understand that Timothy B. Scobey, Esq. is a candidate for the office.
The second Annual Election of Bank Directors
for the Lawreceburgh Branch of the State bank look place on Monday last. All the old Directors were re-elected, with ths addition of two more, Jacob Hays, and Ezra Guard. On Tuesday evening the new Board of Directors met for the purpose of electing a President and Cashier. Omer Touscy was re-elected President, and E. D. John re-elected Cashier.
Dearborn County. A Van Buren meeting was Leld on Saturday last at Wilmington, (the county seit of Dearborn Co.) for the purpose of appointing Delegates to attend the Van Buren convention, to be held at Indianapolis this winter. Hon. Amos Limb wa President, and Geo. W. Lake, (a boy, tnd ion of Aiuoe Lane,) was Secretary. We were informed by the editor of the Palladium, who was present, that Mr. Lane made a long and loud speech nd was followed by Col. Abel C. Pepper, (an office holder under the general government,) after which fifteen or sixteen Delegates from that county were ppointed to attend the Indianapolis Convention. They were instructed to use their influence to have Mr. Wni. Purcell, near Harrison, appointed as one of the Van Buren Electors for this State. fr-We have commenced in this paper, a very interesting Tale. We hope the 6pace it occupies, will be amply repaid by the interest felt in perusing it. Our exchanges are very barren of News, and we have nothing with which to fill our columns, more amusing or interesting than a good written Tile. Such as we believe the one which we commence in to-day's paper. We have received the communication of G. II." The author's ideas are good, and treat upon a very
important subject, that of the tter disregard of
lw, by Judge Lynch, the mobs, &c, which have gone to such a fearful extent within the last six months; but his ideas are unconnected, owing (as we suppose) to a want of practice in composition. He commences in the good old style," lake my pen in hand," Acc. The communication would re
quire more time to correct it, than we have at pre
sent to 6pare.
