James Lindsey and wife, of Col- ’ umbus, spent, Sunday with her parents, Sam Cummins and wife. Mrs. Laura Barker and son. of Ottumwa, Iowa, arrived Saturday for a visit to her father M. H. Bonwell. i Clint Hanley and wife spent Sunday in Columbus. They stopped at Hop?, Monday on their way back to ' Shefliyvillo.

He dropped in Saturday and subscribed for the Republican. Property speculation in St. Louis is expected to be very great since a postoffice has been located there. If they can only strike gas they will be all right. A jolly picnic party consisting of Misses Maggie McCormack, Ethel Gault, Bessie Rush, Maud Jewell, Katie Rush and Messrs, George Arnold, Frank Crump, Noble Ellis, M. A. Locke and Harry Weidner drove to the Cave to spend the day. The party was joined by a*number of young ladies and gentlemen from Hope.—Columbus Times. His daughter, who has been an invalid for somh months, was placed in the I care of a prominent, physician in this city. Mr. Gowdy and his partner, D. McMahon, have sold their newspaper property, the Rhshville Graphic,and the funner will devote himself to farming-.—Indianapolis Journal. E. A. Norman, our new postmaster placed in the new boxes for our postoffice position last Monday afternoon, and wo now receive our letters from the newly furnished route in Woehler’s block. The new boxes make a fine appearance, being, of the latest design with combination : lock boxes. They equal in appearance those found inmost postoffices i in places of several thousand inhabitantj. Jlr. Norman's enterprise is giving such an elegant outfit for' postoffice is highly commendable. ’ He has dqno this at a cost of nearly $200.
