Miss Nannie Pavy, of Burney, was the guest of friends here last week. H. C. Stout, of the Columbus Dye House, is visiting his family at this place. Rev. Ryan began a series of meetings at the M. E. church last Sunday night. Mrs. Frank Galbraith who has been very ill for some time is convalescing. Mrs. G. Davis and daughter Nora have returned from a visit to friends at El wood. Mrs. J. Anderson who resides south of town is very low with heart and lung trouble. Miss Carrie Stout who has been visiting friends at Columbus and Edinburg is at home. Mrs. Frankie Garriott and daughter Jeffra, of Indianapolis, will spend a few weeks with the family of John Gallaway. D. C. Newsom is selling his stock of goods preparatory to moving to Anderson in the near future, where he will resume his business. Mrs. Bertha Clapp who has been spending the winter with her parents, W. T. Rominger and wife, has returned to her home in Louisville. Mr. J. B. Phillipy who has sold his property to James Mitchell, is offering part of his household goods at private sale, and will move to Summitville in a short time. FLATROCK. Rev. Clark occupied the Christian pulpit Sunday. Wesley Nading has sold his store to Thos. Hawkins. W. S. Bristol and family have returned from their eastern trip. Misses Lou and Sallie Williams, of Columbus, spent Sunday with the family of Chas, McCalip. H. G. Solomon and wife spent Sunday and Monday with their daughter, Mrs, Chas. McCartney. Our town was visited by quite a fire last Friday evening. Mrs., Nora Nading's immense cattle barn was destroyed by fire. Loss on building, $1,(!00; insurance $1,200; loss on contents, 1(100; no insurance. Cause of fire unknown. AMONG THE CHURCHES. METHODIST EPISCOPAL. The Sunday-school was well attended and gave a good collection. Regular serviced.., next Sunday morning. The evening service will be conducted', by , the Epworth League. .The meeting'* at St. Louis began with much interest and earnestness on the part of the members. Owing to the-beginning of a series of meetings at S't. Louis, we had no evening service but a goodly number went over there, to service. Bro. Current .gave us his best sermon Sunday morning from the the text, “Because they had no room for Christ in the inn.” The subject, was treated under the following heads: in society; in. business; in politics: in the home; : in the heart.
