>V OMEN LOVE TO EE PETTED. No Matter How Htronjj Minded or Kolliunt, They Enjoy It. Philadelphia Times, You may consider yourself a very indopenpent young person with the ability to take care of yourself, a strong go-ahead business sense and a self-reliance that makes you loose all fear of everything. Yet you are a woman notwithstanding all that, and your nature is just the same even though you are a little stronger than your sisters. There will be a time when the day has been hard, the burden heavy and things all at sixes and sevens generally when you will lay down your air of independence and be glad to be petted and fussed over as much as the weakest member of your sex. It is •born in us, this desire to be loved and cared for. The folding of a wrap around the shoulders that begin to be chilly when the limbs are too tired to go after a sbaul conveys more meaning than the mere action shows to the onlooker. It gives the weary mortal a sense of protections watchful care that is more soothing than words when heart and brain are too exhausted for active demonstrations. A gentle touch, a caress at au un-looked-for moment; the thousand and one little attentions that a woman revels in araso much more valuable to her than to the giver that if her heart could read surely there would be more of this kind of gentle care shown long after the time for such demonstrations is supposed to have gone by. Married men forget that the wife’s heart yearns for those little attentions that he lavished upon her as a lover, but think unnecessary when they settle down to the mat-ter-of.fact business of every day married life. Such little touches are the glimpse of sunshine amid the trials and storms. They keep the heart young and the spirits buoyant, and the older a woman gets the more she longs for the protecting love shown in the little quiet attentions that prove to her she is au object of care and unremitting thought. Curious alurriase Statistics. Boston Courier. A German statistician has recently published the result of his investigation of the relative ages of husbands and wives in the various capitals of Europe: He ascertained that marriages are the most frequent where the husband is two or three years older than the wife. Women under twenty years of age, however, usually take unto themselves husbands six or seven years older than themselves. The cases in which the man was a year younger than the woman were almost as numerous as those in which ho was six or seven years older. The first condition was true 6.7 per cent, of all married couples and the latter condition 6.4 per cent. The cases where the husband was six or seven years younger than the wife were also just as numerous as where he was thirteen or fourteen years older. Only two cases were discovered where the husband was thirtyfive years the senior; one case where he was forty-seven years older than his wife, and one case where he was older by forty-six years. One case was discovered where the wife was thirty-four years older than the husband" Twelve and three-tenths per cent, of all men who marry women under twenty years of age, according to the statistician, are between twenty-six and twenty-s-eveu years old. After reading one of your books, I purchased a bottle of August Flower. It worked like a charm. My wife received immediate relief after taking the first dose. She was completely cured — now weighs 165 pounds, and can eat anything she desires without any deleterious results as was formerly thecase. C. H. Dear, Prop’r Washington House, Washington, Va. ® ttElD’s’oERMAN COUGHAND KIDNEY CUKE. This great remedy is the best thing dd the market for all maladies that arise from colds. These diseases are many, for when a cold attacks the system It produces a congestion in the blood vessels, and whatever organ is affected is weakened just as this congestion is widespread or small in extent. Reid’s German Cough and Kidney Cure relieves the system by stimulating the circulation, inciting the kidneys to action, and thus enabling the lungs to proceed in their work of removing the carbonic acid from the blood. When this is accomplished the cold is cured and the person is restored to health. The ordinary cough remedy seeks to stop the cough simply by drying up or paralyzing the muscles so that the sufferer is unable to cough, but. they do not seek to remove the cause of the trouble. A cough thus checked is oftew driven upon the kidneys, and serious trouble is the result. Reid’s German Cough and Kidney Cure opens the pores, stimulates the secretions and drives the disease away. Got it of any dealer. Sylvan Remedy Co., Peoria, 111.
