EGGS PLENTIFUL FOR THIS EASTER o—— This wag one Easter that the “kiddies” did not need to worry as to whether the supply of Easter eggs would last until the bunny ot to their house because according to the local dealers the supply of egs was so great that the rabbit could leave dozens of them at each home and still have bushels left over. The best part of it all is that they were going to be “dirt cheap” . The wholesale dealers sa y that it is the first time they can remember that eggs were so plentiful and so cheap at Easter time. The reason they are at a loss to know themselves, and say it is one of the unexplainable things. The fact that feed has been exception ally cheap thi s winter and that many farmers have wintered many more hens than ordinarily has had a great bearing on the overflow of eggs and the early spring has had much to d-'» with the low prices, since it caught the storage people unaware and they are not ready to rack eggs until April Eggs were retailing today at 20 to 25 cents a dozen which is much cheaper than they have been at Easter—well, almost since the present generation ca n remember The custom of presenting colored eggs to friends as symbols of the Easter season appears to have originated among the Persians and it evidently bore reference to the mundane egg, for which the Ormuzd and Thriman were to contend till th,. consummation of all things. The egg wag suggestive of re-creation, for it contains the embryo of all that is to come after. The egg shows i n a very simple way how life conceal;: and reveals itself. In the white stone life is concealed One knows that when the time comes a little chick will break the walls of his prison ! n the egg, that the shell will break off and the chick will come forth alive. So the egg becomes a simple type of resurreetio n from the tomb
