For the Upbuilding of Greencastle and Putuam County
Recently reorganized along liberal lines, the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is just now bending all energies in securing the building of fifty or more homes in the city and suburbs to take care of the imperative present-day needs; in the near future it will aid in presenting to the public a “Greencastle Trade Day" which will prove a great factor in reduction of the High Cost of Living; this fall, we hope to present a pageant protraying the progress of the community since its initial settlement one hundred years ago. Other features are being planned to further the interests of the community.

Because of our favorable location in the center of the Nation's activities, on three rail trunk lines that reach to gulfs, lakes and oceans, with our products flowing out in steady streams to all ports of the world; because of our abunbance of raw materials and ideal environments, THE WORLD IS WEARING A PATHWAY TO OUR DOOR.
Let us make the pathway smooth-Speak up for Greencastle

PUTNAM COUNTY CLAY SUITABLE TO MAKE PAPER
STATE GEOLOGIST HAS WRITTEN A BOOK ON VALUE OF INDIANA “MUD” IN THE MANU
..Greencastle of some other point in Putnam county might have a paper Mill some time in the future. Dr. W. N. Logan, state geologist has just written a book which has been released for distribution by the Indiana Department of Conservation, in which he declares that news print can he manufactured from kaolin, an Indiana clay. This clay exists in Orange Lawrence, Monroe, Martin, Greene and Clay counties and it is believed that deposits also will be found in Benton, Warren, Fountain, Parke, Montgomery, Putnam, Dubois, Crawford, Perry, and other counties of western and southern Indiana. Kaolin is a clay of peculiar properties which does not discolor when
burned Some kinds of clay have long
been used in putting a line finish on paper and cardboard 1 is the first time that its use i' making of news print has bee! gested. Grant Beasley owns a tract in Martin County that has n enough kaolin to run a plant —and there is a lot more 1 nead!
