GREENCASTLE, INI).

Bkyax, Sewell, Shively and Silver 1 are appreciated and are gaining ground with the people every day. The newspapers of England and the European continent bitterly denounce the Democratic national ticket and platform—this is strong argument in favor of its indorse-nu-nt by the reading and thinking people of this country. ♦ ' The gold bugs are not half so anx- ! ions for “sound” money as they are for “dear” money—no man or party i of men advocates "-'sound money, i hut the free silver ji' ple advocate the return to the practice of the fath-1 ers by making silver and gold ecpial a? primary redemptive money.

The Republicans hereabouts, as: elsewhere, have had all the blow, bluster, boom and brag beaten out of them by the uprising in favor of Bryan and silver. They are scared and on the scamper, and to guard against disorganization and rout, a secret meeting was held by a few of ti.t faithful, at the Mayor’s OHice, on Tuesday night, to devise means to heai off the stampede. Our advices are that the meeting was not a blooming success, as no adequate remedy was suggested.

[ Every Democratic newspaper in 1 Indiana is sound, solid and enthu- ^ siastic for Bryan a’"! free silver. Anything upon wnioh the Government, places its stamp and declares it full legal tender in payment o! all j debts and taxes is money ; no matter ' j what the material may be.—Henry I Clay. The indications are that the gold bugs are going to attempt to buy and bulldoze their way into power—the debtors are to be bulldozed as far as ; possible, while other voters are to be ! ••influenced” by boodle wherever it c ui be done. Every Democrat and | free silverite should be earnest and helpful in the camnsiitn The Democratic State Committee, lias arranged fur a number of speeches in this State by our I’residential nominee, Mr. Bryan. Ho will, during I the last of August or the first of | September, speak at Terre Haute, Indianapolis, Evansville, Richmond, Ft. Wayne, South Bend, and probably Logansport. The committee will soon cover the state with free silver literature and provide for meetings in every school district, to he addressed by the best speakers that can be secured,
