His removal to another field of work’will be regreted by a host of personal friends in Greencastle. and the wish for his future welfare and usefulness will be very general. It is a a fact that in every community there are people pretending to be what theyllare not, covered up by powder or hiding behind some cloak of deception. This incident is interesting in this connection. It recently

erally.

It is true that the rising genera should of all tilings be taught obedience to law. Arithmetic is good, grammer is a finething, languages fill their place; but a high moral idea of one’s position as a law abiding citizen, is as great if not greater. The laboring men of the world need a better education in morals and religion, and the rich men ot the country need broader ideas of fairness and equality. No man can obtain immense wealth, with rare exceptions, unless he pursues a selfish or dishonorable course; both the laboring man and the rich man need to turn over a new leaf. The best citizens and the happiest are they that live and let live, obey the law, pay their debts, own their homes, live within their means at all hazzards, in matters of income being governed by the law of supply and

demand.

Leg Fractured.

On Monday last the little ten-year old son of Mrs. James Stoops, of Warren township, sustained a compound fracture of the bone of his left leg, the fracture extending down into the ankle joint. venient structure.

Died, at the family residence, in this city, on July 29, of bowel com plaint, Nera, tho infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Janies Merryweather, aged 2 years, 2 months and 21 days The funeral took place from St. Paul’s Church on Monday morning, and was largely attended.

Cow Kicked Hard.

On Saturday last a cow with plenty of steam In her right hind foot kicked the little son of James Aikins, of Cloverdalo township, fracturing the little fellow’s thigli bone just below the joint. The injury is a serious one, but it is hoped his recovery will be rapid, and that no permanent harm will follow. Dr. Prichard gave him surgical attention. Died from His Injuries. Some three or four weeks ago, heretofore noted in our columns, Mack Asher was seriously injured while hauling logs, by a cant-hook striking him with great force. Scooped the Sens:. John H. Piercy, of the Big Drug House, has been missing packages of ginseng from his stock for sometime, but could get no trace of how or why it disappeared. ’Seng is an expensive article, worth here from $2 to $3 per pound, and the loss of many pounds made itself felt in the loser’s pocket-book. A Terrible Accident. On Friday afternoon William Buis, of Jefterson township, met with a serious and greatly to be deplored accident, on the farm of Elmer Wallace, southeast of this city. Buis was adjusting the belt on a threshing machine when his hand and forearm were caught in the rapidly revolving machinery and literally ground and torn to pieces. Those present rushed to the injured man’s assistance, and a messenger was sent to this city for Dr. Smythe, who hastened to the scene of tho accident and gave the sufierer surgical attention. The forearm was so lacerated that it had to be amputated just below the elbow joint. At last account Mr. Buis was resting well and gave evidence of rapid convalescence. The many friends sympathize with him in his great misfortune.
