Inevitable with an If. From the Kansas City Star. Chairman Clarkson, of the National Republican Committee, says the renomination of Harrison is inevitable and that this will be accepted as a fact by all within the next sixty days. Clarkson admits that Harrison is not his choice, but he, in common with other Republicans, must take nis medicine. This, coming from the head of the Republican machine, seems to he authoritative, but there's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip, especially when Blaine is within reaching distance of the cup.

Pocket-Picking by Law From the Philadelphia Record. The Supreme Court would have to reverse itself in order to sustain the bounty clause in the McKinley Tariff act, but it has of late years proved itself equal to such an occasion. The right of t'ongress to make Treasury notes a legal tender, which has been both denied and asserted by the Supreme Court, involves the question now at issue: Whether Congress may reach its hand into the pocket or one citizen and abstract money to put into the pocket of another citizen.

Every miserly old bachelor in the country ouffht to be fined for contempt of court. ..atJ Young ladies, and some young men too, had better be fast asleep than fast awake. For burns and wounds we would recommend Salvation Oil. All dealers sell it at 25c. Many cases have come under our notice where a single bottle of Dr. Bull’s Cough Syrup relieved a sufferer from a severe cough, : whicn had been treated for months by comI potent pnysicians. 25c.
