Well Flowing About Barrels a Day. The indications are that Shelby county is rich in oil. The well shot Monday is flowing at a rate of about fifteen barrels a day, and the indications are that the flow will increase, says the Shelbyville Republican.
As there are other parts of the county leased by the oil company which look to be even better than the part now being used, it would seem that the oil people have room in which to make their assertions.
The oil people have sent for tanks and the work of putting the well into active service will be completed in a short time. Meanwhile

Death of a Young Wife. Mrs. lone Gates, wife of Jacob D. Gates, died at 6 O'clock Monday morning at their home, three and a half miles southeast of this city. Mrs. Gates would have been 24 years old the 17th of September. She has been confined to her bed since last March. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Cox, of Blue River township. The husband survives. Two children have preceded her in death. Funeral Wednesday at 10 o'clock a. m., at the home, with Rev. C. E. Line, of Muncie, superintendent of the Muncie M. E. district of the North Indiana M. E. conference, in charge. C. F. Pasco, undertaker.

Hon. Elbert Russell, of the faculty of Earlham College, was'in Greenfield to-day looking after matters connected with his race for Congress. He is the candidate for Congress on the Progressive ticket. Prof. Russell is an educator of Statewide reputation and a popular platform orator. He is well and favorably known in Greenfield, where he has frequently lectured.
George H. Gant, wife and daughter, of Marion, came to Greenfield Sunday morning. Mr. Gant returned home in the afternoon, but Mrs. Gant and daughter will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper A. Judkins for a few days.
