Mrs. Griffith, of near Southport, spent a part of last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Newhouse.

Mrs. Minerva Gibson was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Buchanan last week.

The Warren township Sunday school convention will be held at Arlington M. E. church one week from next Sunday. A number of delegates from the M. E. and Baptist schools will attend.

Mrs. Elmer Thomas and son, Byron, are visiting relatives at New Madison, Ohio.

The new German church will be dedicated next Sunday, with all day services. Meals will be served to all visitors in the basement of the church.

The men's Bible class will give a social in the basement of the Baptist church next Saturday evening. Everybody invited.

A shower was given Tuesday night for Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Brittenham, whose home and contents were destroyed by fire last Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and daughters and Mrs. Minnie Cotton and daughter, Freda, of Lawrence, were guests of Mrs. Sarah Harvey and daughter, Maggie, at dinner, Thursday.

Mrs. Anna Knoop and daughters, Rosa and Freda, and son, Amiel of Indianapolis, were guests of Mrs. Rose Kitley and sons, Frank and Floyd, a part of last week.

Mrs. Roy Shepherd and children, of Millville, are guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wise, this week.

Rev. Hackleman will preach at the Baptist church next Sunday morning. In the evening he will preach at the M. E. church. Rev. Briggs will preach at the M. E. church Sunday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Adrain Shepherd were guests of Mr. and Mrs James Shepherd over Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Deerburg entertained a number of relatives and friends from Indianapolis at dinner Sunday.

Mrs. Mary Rothermel is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell.

A. E. Campbell was at Danville Wednesday on business. Mrs. Ira Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Perle Alexander attended the funeral of Asa Shull, south of Fortville, Saturday.

A surprise was given Thursday night for Miss Kate Chapell, in honor of her sixteenth birthday.

The Taylor University Glee Club was entertained by A. E. Curry and wife Saturday night. Their entertainment given at the church was reported as fine.

H. W. Umbenliower and family visited Ray Alford and wife, near New Castle, Sunday.

Walt Huey and family spent Sunday with Lem Moore and family, near Nameless Creek.

The storm Thursday evening was not so severe here as it was further north, but several shade and fruit trees and small buildings were blown down.

Mr. and Mrs. Sterl Rash, of Shirley, were Sunday guests of Sherman Rothermel and family.

Mrs. Norma Roberts will spend a few days at Fortville, the guest of Thomas Huey and other relatives.

William Baker and wife were calling at Ingalls Sunday afternoon. The home of Alice Reed, on East street, was discovered to be on fire Sunday morning. It was put out before much damage was done.

Miss Marvel Bradley, of Curry's Chapel, is spending the week with Miss Euphema Wilson.

Shelton Alford and wife visited Joseph Ferrel and family Sunday. James Cooper, of Greenfield, visited his sister, Mrs. Kelley, northwest of this place, afew days last week.

Jesse O'Neal was at Rushville on business Monday. John Spurry has a new automobile.

Irven Barnard, wife and sister, of Lapel, and Perle Alexander visited at Greenfield Sunday.

There will be an ice cream social here Saturday night, July 11, given by the Rebelcahs. Also, a drill will be given.

Mollie Hayes and Kate Webb, of Greenfield, were visiting their sister, Laura Burnett, Sunday.

John Lane and wife spent Sunday evening with Emery Williams and family, near Nameless Creek.

Mrs. Frank White, Zona White and Cynthia Peacock attended the meeting of the county federation of country clubs at the library at Greenfield, Saturday afternoon.

The Red Men held memorial services at this place Sunday. Judge Orbison, of Indianapolis, made the address. Arlington band furnished the music.

John Low is reported on the sick list. Arvey Cherry and family and Rev. Addison and wife were entertained to dinner Sunday by Uncle Doc Gunn and family.

Martha Scudder spent Sunday with Annabel and Mae Miller. Lois Karr is visiting relatives here this week.

The Aid Society was very pleasantly entertained at the home of Mrs. Charles Snider Friday night. A large number were in attendance.

The County Federation of Country Clubs met Saturday, June 27, at Harris Hall. Our president, Mrs. Barrett, gave a short talk at the opening giving her ideas of this organization as coming together in a friendly and informal way not for selfish ideas, but to broaden ourselves. The invocation was given by Mrs. White, of the T. C. of Charlottesville, after which followed the reading of the "Parable of Clubs" by Mrs. Peacock, of the T. C. The quartette from the K. L. K. then gave a selection. An excellent paper on "The Value of Pleasing Manners" was read by Miss Mary Jessup, from the F. C. S. Mrs. Harvey White then favored us with two readings, entitled "I Ain't Afraid of Nothing," and "At Night." Mrs. J. C. Hamilton, from C. L. C., gave as a selection "The Rose Tree." An interesting paper, "The Woman Who Wins," was read by Mrs. W. 0. Hawkins, from the W. G. W. C. The K. L. K. quartette favored us with another selection. A very instructive paper, "What the Women's Club Means to Mankind," was read by Mrs. Gray, from the W. L. S. C. Mrs. Marshall Milbourne, of the K. L. K., gave two readings, "I Don't Want to Go to School" and Tit for Tat." As closing, Mrs. Peacock read the State Federation Prayer. The program was thoroughly enjoyed by about fifty of the members, after which we enjoyed a social hour. All left hoping that when we meet again next year, there would be more of the clubs with us. Miss Nora Corcoran will leave in a few days for New York City, where she will spend the summer. Charles Smith, who has been the guest of the Corcoran family for a time, will accompany her.

James R. Walker, insurance agent (or the Home of New York for the past twenty-two years, is now driving a fine Buick roadster. Mr. Walker and Elmer Gant went to Anderson Wednesday, where they report considerable damage from the storm last Friday.

James Lindamood, of Blue River township, has purchased a new Ford automobile.

The Beeson Brothers, editors and proprietors of the Winchester Journal, have purchased an Intertype type setting machine for their printing office. Russell P. Beeson, son of Jesse W. Beeson, of Blue River township, has accepted a position with the Beeson Brothers and will operate the machine for them. He took a course in typography, linotype and press work at the Winona Technical school of printing, at Indianapolis. He is a cousin of the Beeson Brothers.
