The attendance at Bible school and church services Sabbath was good and a goodly interest was manifested.

The rains of last week were thankfully received. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner entertained Mr. and Mrs. Orlando V. Cook to dinner Sunday.

Class No. 5 of Westland Bible school organized last Sabbath. There was a good number present and they entered into the spirit of it heartily. We are glad for such a move and congratulate them.

Mrs. Howard P. French and little son, of Mt. Carmel, 111., arrived Monday of last week to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Binford and family.

Walter Luse, of Charlottesville, was visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Binford, Sunday and attended Bible school at Westland.

John Gray and family called on Irwin^fiinford and family Saturday evening.

A very pleasant picnic was enjoyed Wednesday on Blue River. Among those present were W. J. Young and family, A. E. Binford and family, 'Charles E. Cook and family and Harold Arnold, Walter Miller and family and J. W. Binford and family.

A Successful Surgeon.

Sain Tolch, the Soutli East, street shoe shop proprietor, has a variety of accomplishments, being an actor, a musician, etc., but only Monday was it discovered that he was a surgeon. Mr. Tolch keeps some chickens and rabbits, for pleasure as well as for profit. Last, Christmas, a big rat got in the nest with a hen and ate her breast and part of her crop away until when she ate corn it fell to the ground instead of going into her body. She, was a fine hen and Mr. Tolch hated to kill her and tried to get different people t,o suggest how or to help him to save her life. None could help him, however, and Mr. Tolch bought a roll of bicycle tape and with other paraphernalia, he performed a very serious surgical operation. The hen continued to eat and lay every day and Monday he, removed the bandages and found the operation to have been a complete success. The only evidences of the injury are scars and the absence of feathers.

Will Decorate Sunday.

The Greenfield I. 0. 0. F. lodge will decorate the graves of deceased members next Sunday afternoon^

Services will be held in their lodge room, beginning at 2 o'clock, after which they will march to Park cemetery. Rev. M. S. Decker will deliver the address. All members' and sojourning brothers and members of Rebekah lodge havebeen invited to participate.

Thomas Walter, of Charlottesville, has been unable to work at his trade for several months. He is a painter, but for some time one of his hip joints drops out of place frequently. The misfortune completely disables him for work, as his other leg has been amputated.

G. A. Everett and family, of Indianapolis, and James Harrison and wife of Greensburg, were the guests of H. Hi Duncan and wife, of Route 1, Sunday.

Much Painting This Season. William R. Walker, a veteran house painter of Charlottesville, reports that he has done the most business at bis trade this year that he has ever done. During the month of May he missed only one day and a half, except Sundays. He was often at work by 5:30 in the morning and did not quit until seven in the evening. He has painted some of the nicest homes inu Jackson township. —,—_ "Old Bossy" Holds Road.

A telegram from Shelbyville to the Indianapolis Sun is as follows: When Jefierson Crider, a Greenfield bridge contractor, was driving his automobile near here the machine hit a cow and Crider was hurled through the windshield. He is suffering from cuts and bruises.

Was Dangerously Sick. Charley Brown, who works at the Eli Lilly Company plant and rooms at the New building, was brought to his room about 11:30 to-day, very critically sick with an attack of lead poisoning or painter's colic. Dr. Bruner brought him in his machine and waited on him.

Building For New Castle. Congress has appropriated $28,000 for the New Castle federal building and the peole of that city are hoping that the construction will begin at once. The first appropriation made for this building was not large enough, as some of the bids were considerably higher than the appropriation and the extra appropriation had to be made.

Made Her Read Bible.

Alleging as her cause of action, that her husband made her become a Bible student and argue the Scripture with him, Mrs. Lydia M. Nogle, of Marion, has filed suit for a divorce. s*
