School closed here last Friday for the holidays. The, school house was beautifully decorated with two Christmas trees. The teacher, Mr. Hiday, gave the children a generous treat and they gave him several nice presents. Several of the parents came but and enjoyed the afternoon exercises.

Mrs. Sarah Huston, of Greenfield, visited William Wilson and family Christmas.

Born, to Harley Goodwin and wife, a baby girl, Dec. 22d. She will be known as Florence Roslin Goodwin. As Roslin is the only granddaughter on either side, she is much'loved by all her grandparents. She also makes the fourth generation of this family, namely: Charlie Gunn, great grandfather John Gunn, grandfather Grace Gunn Goodwin, mother.

William Curry, who was so painfully injured about the head two weeks ago, is better. Mr. Curry was leading a horse along the road and in some manner the animal kicked him on the head and rendered him unconscious.

Miss Mabel Gant, who teaches school here, is spending the vacation at Greenfield with her parents.

The Christian church will hold its annual business meeting and social at the church next Friday night. A good program is being prepared.

Mrs. Wesley Banta, of Greenfield, and ^Miss Mary Chapman, of near Fountaintown, spent last Thursday with Jesse West and family.

The school which wras to resume work last Monday, was delayed on account of measles and whooping cough, many children being unable to attend.

CURRY'S CHAPEL

There will be preaching here by the pastor next Sunday. James Wilson and wife gave their annual Christmas dinner in honor of their children.

Mr. and Mrs. John Radcliffe, of Wabash, and Elmer Willett are visiting Edward Martin and wife.

Mrs. Albert Carlton entertained her brother and sisters last week. •John Biser and family spent several days last week with his mother Mrs. Jennie Biser, Frank Kirk and wife and James Biser and wife at New Castle.

The schools began last Monday, after a week's vacation. Joseph Martin and wife entertained a large number of relatives and friends Christmas eve.

Miss Rachel Black, age 87, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Sallie Shields, Sunday night. The funeral occurred Wednesday at the residence, burial at Six Mile, with W. S. Lane as funeral director.

Mrs. Mary Higgins. age 73. died at her home near the depot Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 of pneumonia. 'The funeral occurred at the Catholic church at Knightstown on Saturday morning at 9 a. m., with Father Donahue, of Indianapolis, officiating. Burial was made in Glencoe cemetery, with W. S. Lane, undertaker. Several from here attended.

Mrs. Doris Binford, while driving home from town Thursday night, drove the horse down a steep embankment at the town bridge. The buggy was demolished, but Mrs. Binford was not injured.

Mr. and Mrs. Marion Phillpot, Mr. and Mrs. Winfield Lane and Mr. and Mrs. John Lane attended the Masonic banquet at Knightstown on Monday., night.

Miss Hettie Hunt, who teaches at Booneville, was home for vacation. Iioriald Peacock was home from Earlham last week.
