W. S. Lane suffered a stroke of paralysis Thursday night. He is improving at this writing.

Will Leamon, of Greenfield, visited relatives here Sunday. Thaddeus Cook, of Eugene, Oregon, is visiting Charles Gladden and family and Horace McCalment and wife. He left Indiana over five years ago and says he could never think of living here again after enjoying the mild climate and many other pleasant features in the state of Oregon.

Mrs. Higgins will inherit several hundred dollars by the death of her sister, who died recently at Anderson.

Bertha Ash, of Greenfield, is visiting Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Johnston. Frank Shelby and wife, of Buck Creek township, were here Wednesday attending the funeral of Mrs. Raymond Shelby.

Mr. Stone and Mrs. Jennie Polling, of Indianapolis, were married at the M. E. parsonage by Rev. Gray Saturday. They are visiting Mrs. Stone's mother, Mrs. Ward.

Mrs. Peter Pearson and children, who have been visiting Henry Starbuck and wife, have returned to their home in Grant, county.

The Ladies of the Christian Aid Society will have an ice cream supper on the lawn east of Dr. J. L. Allen's house Saturday night, July 16. Besides ice cream the ladies will have cake, crackei'jack and punch on sale.

On Monday evening Mrs. Munden entertained those who had remembered her birthday at her home on East street. Refreshments of ice cream and cake wex*e served.

Mrs. Minnie Lambert received a telegram recently announcing the death of her niece, Mrs. Ida Cuppy, of Humbolt, Illinois. She was formerly Miss Ida Staley, this place and had many friends here.

Grandma Rock is in poor health. Mrs. D. M. Gladden and Bessie McCalment, of Indianapolis, are spending this week with Chax-les Gladden and family.

While cutting hay George Albex-t Fei'ris and Floyd Ensminger left their teams to get a drink and the horses became frightened and both teams ran away, the two mowers locking together, completely demolishing one and badly damaging the other, but fortunately the horses were not seriouslv hurt.

Mrs. James Anderson, and children, of this city, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Murphy, of Mohawk, over Sunday and attended the family dinner given in honor of their daughter, Luna King, who will soon leave for the Isthmus of Panama.

Dr. Larrabee and wife are at Martinsville for ten days. Hazel Rupkey will leave next week for a two weeks' visit with relatives in Dayton, O.

Elmer Regula, of Detroit, Mich., is spending a few days with his parents, Harry Regula and wife.

Bernice Cunningham is spending a few weeks with Wabash friends. Christian Geisel and wife were at Indianapolis Friday attending Mrs. Geisel's funeral.

Eva Ayres has returned from a week's visit with relatives at Lawrence and McCordsville.

Mrs. Elmer Andrews, whose condition has been causing much anxiety, shows but little improvement.

Mrs. C. Ehlert, of Indianapolis, visited her father, E. H. Faut Sunday."" The new M. E. parsonage is nearing completion.

New Temple Custodian.

John Brandenburg has been employed as custodian of the Masonic Temple, and is now in charge of the building. The trustees consider themselves fortunate in securing Mr. Brandenbnrg's services.
