We ask your kind indulgence before entering in the details of this advertisement, knowing that what we are going to say will be of vast importance to every citizen of Hancock county and surrounding territory.
Co-Operative Stores
From the foregoing you have learned that this store will be operated on the co-operative plan. This will mean a great deal to our customers as they will be permitted to participate in the profits of this business. In adopting the plan which we will herewith explain to you, we were largely influenced by the phenominal success which has been made by other co-operative stores throughout this and other states, including such concerns as the Peru Mercantile Company (co-operative), Peru, Ind. The H. B. Sykes Company, Elkhart, Ind. Greenebaum Co-operative Store, Danville, 111. People's Store (co-operative), Ft. Wayne, Ind., The Lion Store Co-operative Company, Anderson, Ind and many others.
Messrs. E. S. Phillips and E. Rothschild, who are officers and managers of the Lion Store Co-Operative Go. of Anderson, evolved the co-op-erative plan of merchandising as conducted by their concern, and several others of the largest department stores throughout the United States and in these stores there are thousands of stockholders who are sharing in the profits of their business by the plan which we are now adopting.
How to Become a Partner in the Spot Cash Co-Operative Store Co.
It is the ambition of every mercantile institution constantly to broaden the scope of its business. To this end we have decided that this can be best done by enlisting the co-operation of thousands of persons in Hancock and surrounding counties. In other words, our purpose is to establish a CO-OPERATIVE store.

For the People, By the People"
We want 3,500 CO-OPERATIVE shareholders who will, impelled by their sense of interest in ownership and personal profit, make it their business to become walking, talking advertisements for this great establishment, who, no matter if they have ten shares, or even one share, will feel their power of ownership in the institution, and talk the business, push the business, boom the business. We want this business to be yours as well as ours. We want you as an active partner in this store, which will stand as a credit to Greenfield and to those who help make it a success.
What is Co-Operation?
Co-operation has been defined as banding together of a number of persons for the economical production and distribution of merchandise, so as to save the consumer part of the money tlxat he would necessarily pay as a profit. The people owning these shares of stock will have a purchasing and distributing power so tremendous that it will drive price points lower than ever before, reduce the cost of merchandise, and enable purchasers to supply their needs at a great saving.
The speculative feature is entirely eliminated from the idea of this company's stock. It is not an experimental enterprise, but is based upon modern merchandising of successful record under our management, thereby assuring the holder of stock legitimate returns upon the money invested.

Our Plan Capital Stock
Forty thousand common tMrtyfive thousand preferred. The common stock is held by the officers and directors of the company. The pre. ferred stock ten dollars ($10.00) a share, 7 per cent, guaranteed dividend. fully paid, cumulative, nonassessable, we offer to the public afc par.
Farmers, mechanics, tradesmen, clerks, craftsmen, professional men and the general public—men and women alike—are invited to take shares and become owners and profit-sharers in this business. We offer for sale at par the preferred stock at §10.00 a share. This is fully paid, non-asses-sable, with a dividend of 7 per centw per annum guaranteed and cumul&r lative.
Preferred stock is so called because all profits must first be applied to the payment of the dividends upon such stock before the common stockholders are permitted to share in the profits. It is fully paid and non-assessable. In other words, if you pay $10 in full for. one share of stock, you cannot be assessed after payment under any consideration or should you buy five shares of stock for $50 and pay in full, you can never be called upon to pay any more on ths five shares.
In addition to this guaranteed dividend, every stockholder will receive a special rebate of 5 per cent, on all goods purchased. This rebate will more than ipay for all the stock:you, own in a surprisingly short time. This is an opportunity, the like of which has never before been offered in this community, and should be taken advantage of by persons of large or small means. The managers, buyers aud employes of the various departments, will be the most efficient and capable that cart be had as they are all seareholders and are consequently directly interested in the success of the store.

The stock of merchandise carried by this store is the very best quality %hat money and long experience can buy. One of the strongest arguments in favor of this co-operative store plan is that you are always sure of getting the best of everything at as
