FOUNTAINTOWN.
The Pocahontas Council celebrated their anniversary Saturday night. Fifteen candidates were initiated, after which lunch was served. Several visiting members from New Palestine and Falmouth were reported.
John Watts spent Sunday at Peru the guest of Ott Cleary and wife. Rev. Walls preached an interesting sermon to a goodly number at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon.
Bertha Kroening entertained Marie Means, of Carrollton, and Eva Riser, of Shelbyville, Sunday.
Several from here attended the musical concert at Morristown Thursday night.
Fern Bussell, of Morristown, visited Vessie Carrigan Sunday. Marie Snider and Alta Miller spent Sunday at Rushville.
Harvey Lewis had the misfortune of having his nose broken while playing ball one day last week.
Mrs. A. Irelan, of Morristown, was among her music scholars last Monday.
T. H. Scudder spent Sunday with friends south of New Palestine. Hazel Cracraft is reported as being some better.
Allie Gun, of Indianapolis, visited with her parents, John Gun and family Sunday.
Frank Fout and family spent Sunday with Fred Fout and family. Mrs. Dr. Miller and daughters, Annabeland May were at Greenfield last Thursday.
Gamblers Pay Fines.
Twelve men from Shirley paid $17 each in fines and costs on pleas of guilty to gaming in the court of Justice of the Peace, D. C. Gimason.
Every county officer attended the convention today.

Thomas Brizendine was at Fortville Wednesday and visited Allie Walker and family.
Cary Keaton purchased a team of farm mares of Noah Wilson for $450 one day last week.

Ex-Judge Douglass Morris of Rushville and ex-Judge Ewing of Greensburg are pitted against each other for the nomination of judge of the Supreme court at the Democratic state convention. Both men are well known in this city.

Lee C. Thayer Improving. Lee C. Thayer, who is in the Deaconess hospital at Indianapolis, is recovering nicely from the recent surgical operation he underwent and expects to be at home within two weeks.
