On Friday evening occurred one of the greatest society events of the season. The Oakland and Fortville Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, assisted in instituting a Jtebekah Lodge here. Early in the evening they began to gather at the hall, and not until 3 o'clock in the morning was the hall vacated. Supper was served about 1 o'clock, and no bashful persons could be found on that occasion. The Xebekahs start out with forty-eight mem3?er.s, with many ore to follow. The teams from Oakland and Fortville did noble work. The subordinate lodge is in tie dawning of a great revival. Let the good work go on. Follow rigidly the general laws of the Grand Lodge, and the prosperity will be permanent, but dodge laws and any order will eventually .. .J. P. School closed at this place last Saturday. The entertainment in the afternoon was highly appreciated by all. The Little Brothers gave another of their comic entertainments at the Mohawk school house last Saturday night.. School at Number 1 Buck creek township will close Wednesday the 14th. and the Radical United Brethren will commence a series of meetings in the house on the same night Rev. Hunt, preached to a crowded house at Mohawk Sunday evening Sunday school is still flourishing under the management of R. M. Bills superentindent Local politics are boiling over and candidates are so numerous that it would be useless to try to name them, but when we see a man with right hand extended, face disfigured with smiles, and his oily tongue going like a flying shuttle, we say he must be a candidate for supervisor or something and just go ahead with our work, but we confess it does look now as if the convention on next Saturday would go democratic, at least in Buck Creek township... .The Mohawk Grain Co. are taking in considerable wheat at present, which shows that they are paying the highest market price... .Newman and Barnard the saw mill firm, are busy manufacturing fence pickets this week... .Charles Aikin has moved into the property he bought of the New heirs sometime ago... .Agricultural implements are piling up on our platform until there is hardly room to get around. .We wonder what has become of the Superintendent of the Union Sunday school.

The Y. P. S. C. E., of Westland, gave a social at the residence of Charlie Ratlin, on the evening of the 8th. Each lady took a pie and the gents selected a pie and had the pleasure of eating it with the lady that baked it.
