USED THEM IN HIS BLOW-GUN. Doctor— "Well, my fine little fellow, you have "got quite well again. I was sure the pills I left for you would cure you. How did you take them, in water or in cake?"

Boy—"Oh, I used them in my blowgun." The little fellow put the nasty, great, griping, old-fashioned pills to a good use. At most, all his internal economy needed was a dose of Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets. They are tiny, sugar-coated granules, easy to take, and are gently aperient, or actively cathartic, according to size of dose. As a laxative, only one tiny Pellet is required.

The "Pellets" cure Sick Headache, Bilious Headache, Constipation, Indigestion, Bilious Attacks, and all derangements of the Liver, Stomach and Bowels.

The Pellets are purely vegetable, and operate without disturbance to the system, diet, or occupation,

Dr. Pierce's Pellets are the cheapest pill, sold by druggists, because they are guaranteed to give satisfaction in every case, or their price (25 cents a vial) refunded. Can you ask more?

The cramping of the hand from constant use of a pen can always be prevented by enlarging the holder. Some men prefer to wrap string around the wood, but the best holder is made by getting a bit of rubber tubing and running the handle of the pen through it. It enlarges the holder to the requisite size, and furnishes a soft, easy grasp, which cannot possibly distress the muscles by any amount of use.

The engineer may not know what is the rpatter he may have no ear for music, but the change in tone of his machine will be instantly perceptible, will be instantly recognized, and will start him on an immediate investigation.

One of the features of the Fourth of July parade at Trinidad, Colo., was a Chinese band, consisting of wenty-one Chinese residents of that town, attired in resplendant Oriental costumes, and performing on fearful and'wonderful instruments of sound. To some people this display might seem to be not only an interesting but an ironical feature. The idea of a number of Chinamen boisterously celebrating the glories of American freedom and liberty, especially in a far Western State, and immediately after the passage of the exclusion act, is rather grotesque than patriotic.

Not with the liver. Violent cholagognes, like calomel and blue pill, administered in "heroic" or excessive doses, as they often are, will not permanently restore the activity of of the great hepatic organ, and are productive of much mischief to the system generally. Institute a healthful reform, if inactivity of the liver exists, with Hostetters's Stomach Bitters, which insures a regular discharge of the secretive function of the liver, and promotes due action of the bowels without griping or weakening them. The discomfort and tenderness in the right side, nausea, fur upon the tongue, yellowness of the skin and eyeballs, sourness of tne breath and sick headache, which characterize chronic biliousness, disappear, and digestion—always interfered with by biliousness—resumes its former activity. BUSINESS TROUBLES.

Many a man carries his business troubles home with him. He sits down to the table gloomy and depressed, and in this condition of mind his food does not digest. He continues this way of living until at last he finds himself a confirmed dyspeptic and his whole life is colored and embittered by this malady. Now he need not suffer. If he will get a box of the LAXATIVE GUM DROPS which he can obtain of any druggist and take from three to six every night before going to bed and take one or two after each meal he will eventually check his malady. If he will cultivate in himself a cheerful frame of mind, always looking on the bright side of things and always confident and resolute, he will be able to laugh at his calamities. In a short time he will be entirely cured of indigestion. This remedy is simple, but most effective. These Gum Drops come in boxes at 10 and 25 cents. Get them ol any druggist and insist upon having them.
