Lord giveth and the Lord taketh .blessed be, the name of the Lord." HELMS.

Carey Barton Helms, son of Albert and Mary E. Helms, was born, in Marion county, Indiana, April 8, 1871. aud departed this life suddenly April 24, 1891. He was hauling logs and a chain broke throwing him off the wago and a log fell on him killing him instantly. He. was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Holden April 3, only thr-.e weeks previous to his death, and he thus leaves a young widow together with a father and mother, three brothers and two sisters and numerous relatives and friends to mourn, their loss. After his marriage a great change came over l*im. He formed new habits and purposes resolving to do all he could to make his wife comfortable and happy and to succeed in life, but ales, he was not permitted to live to realize bis hopes and anticipations. Carey was always a good hearted boy but after his marriage he expressed a determiuation to give his heart to the Lord and connect himself with church, and with this purpose and bright prospects for the future of his earthly life he was summoned into the presence of a just and merciful God. His funeral was held in the Bethel church in the presence of a large congregation conducted by the writer, and his body rests in the cemetery near by awaiting the summons from 011 high, that shall bid the dead arise. J. N. THOMPSON.

LAMB.

Jesse O. Lamb was born in Hancock couuty, Indiana, Juue 11th, 1872, departed this life May 2, 1891, of lung fever following an attack of the lagrippe. Jesse's was a promising young life, audit is bard for his widowed mother, brothers and sisters to give him up, but God knows best. In his intercourse with thoro about him, he was ever ready aud willing to aid and cheer both the young and old by his cheering words and kind actions. Every oue who knew him loved and respected his kind obliging disposition. Jesse had never confessed the Savior, but at various times signified his intention of doing so. A few hours preceeding death, the bltssed words, "Savior, wa»h me iu the blood," were suug by him with his dying breath. The last words he uttered were: "Mother, can you cross over the river? I can, it is easily done." He sank peacefully to rest.
