Clinton Parker is talking of going into the livery business in the near future.
Mr. Caleb Jeffery is building a summer kitchen, and beautifying his premises in various ways.
Mr. Camel Parker had one of his legs fractured, a. few days since, while pulling stumps.
Mr. James Dunn, of Illinois, was at the bed-side of his sister, Mrs. Shelby, during the last hours of her illness. He stated that when he left home that the ground was too dry to get in proper shape for planting corn.
Grandma Shelby, wife of Joshua Shelby ceased, departed this lite May tl 188!), aged 75 yeai 7 months and 7 day.*. Our neighborhood has been deprived of one who was a friend of all. No words need be spoken concerning her life as to it being an upright christian life to those who knew her. Her matchless kindness shall stand as a monument in the minds of the people. From every source can only come words of commendation of Mrs. Shelby, and we but record the universal opinion of all who knew her best, when we say that she died in the confidence and respect of all who knew her. Her bereaved family have thejunfeigned sympathy of the entire comunity.

F. P. Hunter, who recently moved to Indianapolis, from this place, was in I wn Tuesday, wearing blue, ie dire clothes, and had, in some promimn je on "nis erson, a badge marked "Metropolitan Poice." Frmk is a hearty, sto-it fellow and will make a good officer.
Quite a number of friends tmd relatives from near Cicero, were guests of Nicholas Gardner Tuesday.
Mrs. Julia o:" di dis. visited her parents, Mr. Gordon and wife, here, last Tuesday.
The storm, Saturday, done some little damage here. Shad trees and fences were lowered, but outside of this, little was destroyed.

The death of J. W. Brewster, was a sad affair and brought iron hearts to submission. He was a noble man and his acts and deeds, mechanically and otherwise, will Ion.*.!: stand.
The raveyard question is assuming somethings unlocked for. The immediate residents and quite a number of others signed a remonstrance against its local ion. In our judgement the cemetery is wrongly located, and each and every citizen of Fort-ville should oppose it. While Mr. Arnett is a gentleman of high standi tig we tliiuk he used poor judgement in the laying out of this cemetery. There are places a great deal more appropriate and more handsomely located. Why not pie-. out a place a, respectable distance from town and buy it. The end is not yet.
The appointment of Dr. Simeon T. Yancey, as Coal Oil Inspector, is heard with delight by the people of our town. To say that the appointment is a good one merely opens the gate for a more elaborate utterance. Mr. Yancey is a conservative it in!

During our stay in Java, I was often carried over streams and mountains and about the tea fields in the Tan'lo. Our illustration shows one style of the Tando, which is a great oblong box, widening as it descends. It is made of light material, with a roof or covering of tl to same, it is constructed with a lid-like door on each side. It is both light and cool. It is carried by ii'K'ie s. who in their umbrella like hats and light, traveling co.--| ::ne. make rapid progress with their burden.
