VONCASTLE “Single Standard” Is Glamorous Role For Greta Garbo— Last Showing Tonight Greta Garbo proves the adage about absence making the heart grow fomrer in her smashing return to the screen in “The Single Standard,” which plays tonight for the last times at the Voncastle Theatre
as a new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer presentation. In many ways, “The Single Standaid" is a distince triumph for the exotic Swedish star. It is her first K.’O per cent American role and presents the greatest of all her film characterizations. Nils Asther and Johnny Mack Brown split leading man honors in the new Garbo feature which John S. Robertson directed from Josephine Lovett's adaptation of the original story. Both are splendidly ast and, although playing widely divergent roles, keep pace wfui each other in highly creditable performances. Clair Hull and his band will play again tonight during the screening of : hort subjects at second performance.
GRANADA HAS BOOKED ZIEGI KI.D’S BIG MUSICAL TRIUMPH "SHOW BOAT”
The production is an all-singing dancing, talking and musical presentation, with original Ziegfeld hits, and With a supporting cast of players headed by Laura La Plante, Joseph Schildkraut, (His Harlan and Alma Rubens, with hundreds of others taking part in the picture. The story is taken from FMna Berber's romance of the ages and now cones to life on the screen. All the writers beloved characters are portrayed in this production and it is a pleasure to learn that Grcencastle and vicinity will have an opportunity of seeing ami hearing “Show B( at.” “Show Boat” is booked for a three day engagement starting Sunday, October 13. The picture will open with a special midnight performance Saturday night. Oct. 12.

FIRE-BUG BLAMED FOR BLAZE NEAR HILLSBORO
HILLSBORO, Ind., Oct. 5.—A firo thought to have been of incendiary origin destroyed the barn and its con tents at the tenant place o\\'ned by Horace F.inier, southwest of Hillsboro Friday morning about two o'clock. Mrs. John Crowder, a neighbor wa.i the first one to discover the firo ami the Einiers were called telephone. The fire was beyond control when discovered, but on going to the scene it was also discovered that the house v as pn fire. There had been no on * living on the place for the past six weeks. 1 he front gate ^o the yard was found open as wa also a gate at the rear and the front door of the house. On investigating they discovered that a fire had been started in the wardrobe and had burned a hole m the floor when it was found. There were between six and eight tons of hailed wheat straw and some harnes- in the barn hut no live stock. Tile lo-s is estimated between seven and eight hundred dollars, covered with insurance.
