Bertaud will be a new comer at the Indianapolis track but he is popular as a race pilot on the coast. Howard an,| Bertaud were aviators in the World War. Howard was with the Italian Fivers and Bertaud was an instructor in acrobatics with
the American aviators.
They were in the air ten hours making the trip from New York where they reside to Indianapolis They stopped here all week and left for Kansas City. They will go to | Tulsa to demonstrate the possibili- | ties of the airplane in the oil fields. ' The racers and fliers encountered cold weather on their trip especially
along the great lakes.
The Italian plane Howard and Bertaud are piloting is the same as the cdteeawrhot aythewhereal pdran-T0 Kalian army fliers used, and i s capable of doing 141 miles an hour Therefore speeding a race car over the bricks in Indianapolis Speedway is rather a slo woceupatio n for these
speed demons.
