The Art Association of Indianapolis which in reality Is an association of Indiana Artists fins accepted for the annual art exhibit which is held during March In the John Herron Art Gallery a water color by Mrs. James Riley Weaver of this town. The picture, which was painted by Mrs. Weaver last summer while in Canada, portrays a roadway at Port Sydney, Canada. It is catalogued ns “Roadway in Port Sydney.” The acceptance of the picture by the Art Association is a great compliment to Mrs. Weaver, as only those pictures whirh have great merit are ncrepted. The picture, now on exhibit In Indianapolis, was exhibited at the local art exhibit and Is familiar to the art lovers of Greencastle.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hirt have returned from Tampa, Florida, where they spent the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Mecum of Frankfort, are here the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Hoes. The Domestic Science Club will meet Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Mrs. George Dobbs. Miss Minnie Roberts, who has been here the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. O’Hair, returned to her home in Coatesville today. IT. V. O'Daniels and Arthur Hamrick were in Oloverdale Sunday to attend the funeral of Wilson Horn. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Browning, who reside in Commercial place, are the parents of a son born Monday
morning.
Perry Smith, of Lebanon, who recently ,purchased the Bryan farm south of town, was here today. Mr. Smith has rented his farm to Mik 1 ' Kelley for the ensuing year: The funeral of Mrs. Martha J. Sidtlons was held this morning at II 11 o'clock in Fillmore. The Rev. W H. Brown conducted the services. Coach Johnson has secured the fast “Silent Hoosiers," representing the Indianapolis Deaf and Dumb School, for Greencastle high scftool's last basketball game. The “Silent Hoosiers” are known to be one of the fatest teams In the state and should give the high school one of the best games of the year. This game will be played at the armory Friday night, March 21.

While assisting in pulling down the damaged portion of tlie water works pumping station smoke sink. Friday afternoon, Evan Strain was Injured by being struck on the chin by a pulley. Several men were attempting to pull down the stack by use of a rope and pulley when I rope broke and the pulley flew back and struck Strain on the chin. The repairs on the smoke stack at the water works pumping station were completed Saturday at _ 3e c'clock the pumps were again going after having been shut down since Friday. By midnight the standpipe was filled and the water pressure again at normal. All day Saturday however, there was scarcely aii> pressure at ull, and had a fire broken out the results probably would have been disastrous. Mrs. Jennie Ellison was agreeabl} surprised by her friends and neighbors on Inauguration day. Many people from Filmore were present. A pleasant evening was enjoyed b> all. Mr. and Mrs. Fields Ellison art tw-o venerable and respected citizens of Greencastle. In the past few months Mrs. Ellison has been in poor health. Her husband and the good neighbors of Greencastle and Filmore perfected a scheme to make her agreeably happy and they succeeded in doing so. Jesse Jones shipped to the Indianapolis market today 18 head of two year-old Polled Angus cattle, which aro as nice as any fat cattle ever shipped from Putnam county, according to the verdict of several Greencastle cattle men. The cattle were fattened by Mr. Jones, who began to feed them for the market the first of November. Crushed corn cotton seed meal and clover hay was the fed used and on these rations the rattle each gained an average of 2 1 pounds a day. It is believed the cattle will demand a high price on the Indianapolis market.
