His father years ago was sheriff of Putnam county. He had several persons with him. Mrs. R. P. Carpenter and dauuhter, who have been the guests of Dr .and Mrs. G. W. Bence, for the past few days, have returned to their home In Noblesvllle. Mrs Carpenter Is a former resident of Greencastle, her husband having been formerly connected with the Star A Democrat Publishing Co., of this town.

Farmers who were in town today say that the rain of the past 2 4 hours has done much damage to the crops. Much corn is down and oats is greatly damaged Most of the wheat being cut, the damage to that crop is small
