It would be a good thing to have a humane officer look after some horses which are driven about the streets by people who do not care for and treat their horses properly. Such an officer killed tbree horses recently be cause they were not fit to live They were the property of traveling- horse trader.

Yesterday's suggestion that the city be decorated in honor of the coming C. E. convention, is receiving favorable notice. The Christian Endeavorers are a grand body of young people. Everything ought to be done to ^4^- encourage them in their labors

If a political convention were coining here, the people would be striving to out do each other fy' in the heartiness of their welcome. Let the town be decorated. To the usual red, white 4^

There was not much evidence of much the

money being used at recent election by either party. There were a few persons 4,$ who said that it was being used but that the arrangements were all qaade with the floater prior to election day. This is not a very plausible view because men who have to be fixed would not remain /fixed oyer night.

However, it is true that the floaters did not hang around the polls and discuss voting with the .workers. They came to the A^«polls and walked in and cast their jvote.'

pendent voting exhibited by the recent election was the Eighth congressional district where George W. Cromer, Republican, Was defeated by John M. Adair, Bemocrat, by 4,244 votes. Two years ago Cromer carried his district by 7,365. For six years Mr. Cromer

time but has always succeeded. The results of the election would indicate that there were about 5,000 Republicans in the district who had made up their minds that as they could not retire Mr. Cromer by defeating ibis nomination I they could doit at the polls on election day

The farmers are quite1' busy gathering corn at this writing. The yield seems greater than last year as several new cribs have been erected in the neigh borhood.

Mrs. (51-eorge Parker is spend ing this week with her daughter Mrs. Dora Dill near Pendleton.

The Ladies Aid Society met with Mrs. James Crump Tuesday and reported a good meeting.

Mrs. Campbell was at Indianapolis one day last week. Mrs. Effie Martin and Mrs. Shaw of the Central University spent Tuesday with the former's parents Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Parker.

Ed Eastes bought a large herd of cattle at the Wicker sale Monday.

Isaac Sanford and family spent Sunday with Mr. Boungie and family at Cumberland.

Wilbur Land was at Greenfield Tuesday. Ed Parker and family have moved to their farm recently purchased of Austin Thomas.

Miss Eva Crump and gentleman friend attended the pie supper at No. 9 school house Friday evening.

Rev. O. P. Lydy took dinner with Freemont Eastes and family Sunday.

Rally day will be observed by the Sunday school of this place next Sunday.

Quite a number of our young people attended the Hollowe'en aarty given at the home of George Parker and wife for their grand-daughter Hazel. All report a splendid time. 4^

There will be Sunday school at 9:30 o'clock next Sunday morning after which a short program will follow for rally day. Let every one be on time.

Y. P. C. U. society will meet at 2:30 to which all are invited to attend and take part.
