Three hundred names were signed to a remonstranse against the application of Aaron B. Reeves which was ready to file with the coifnty commissioners, asking for a saloon license in Carthage. This is a "gentle" hint that the people of Carthage do not want a saloon in their fair city. Mr. Reeves will not present his application.—Richmond Republican,
Walter West, a butcher, living on East Tenth street, bought a wild duck that was killed on Blue River, near Morristown, last Saturday. When preparing it to cook a large quantity of gold was found in its craw. They cannot account for the strange fact, unless there is gold along Blue river. Or the fowl might have picked it up in Morgan or Brow^i county, for there, they find, aft^r a rain, pieces of gold worth from $6 to JJ8. If we were living in the fable age, we might claim it was a ose instead of a duck, and v, 'goose that lays the golden eggs.— Rushville Republican.

SKIN GRAFTING NECESSARY.
Greenfield Woman Seriously Injured at Indianapolis.
The many friends in this city of Miss Maud Marsh are very much concerned over an accident she recently received
Miss Marsh, is training for a nurse in the Protestant Deaconess hospital in Indianapolis. Two weeks ago tonight, she was on duty and with other ladies was preparing a midnight lunch for§g§themseIves. They had itei '•A placed potatoes in a skillet and a call from a ward caused Miss Marsh to turn quickly, her clothing over turning the hot grease upon her foot. When the stocking was removed it took the flesh.
The burn was given attention but would not heal and Sunday evening Miss Marsh was taken very ill and physicians pronounced the injury in bad condition and said grafting ^yas necessary
Today at noon watf set as the time for the operation and the result is anxiously awaited. Mrs. Will Marsh of this city is present at the operation.
The nurse girls in the hospi? tal have offered to give to the skin graftitag and is supposed their offer was accepted. Miss Marsh will be brought to her home in this city as soon as she is able. With no complications she will not be abl^ to walk for six months or more.
Good for everything a salve is used for and especially recommended for piles. That is what we say of DeWitt's Witch Hazel, Salve. On the market for years and a standby in thousands of families.
The exact circumstances preceding the death of Mr. Watson are not definitely understood. It is well known that he had for some time been in very poor health, having been confined to his home for several weeks during tbe early summer. John Johnson, the State street
appears to have to discover tbe bis feeling
stricken man, upon pulse realized that he was in a critical condition. He immediately sent for Doctor Sisson, who found Watson in so exhausted a condition "that he at once administered a hypodermic stimulant, and had him taken home, where unsuccessful efforts were made to revive him.
Dr. E R. Sisson says that W A. Watson died from ai over dose of acetaulid headache tablets The funeral will occur Thursday afternoon at 2:30,from his late residence on East South street.
Second Day a Success
There is no doubt that the visit of tbe Health Teacher is going to prove a success. The people who visited him yesterday at V. L, Early's Drug Store left perfectly satisfied with the time f=pent talking to this remarkable man and it is safe to say that among his visitors there were persons afflicted with possibly every known disease. Some had stomach, kidney and liver troubles, others were afflicted with rheumatism, catarrh, indiges* tion, headaches, costiveness, pains in the sides and back, and similar complaints
To each one, the Health Teacher points out how the disease takes bold in the system, and shows how to remove it by simple remedies. He reccommends most strongly for the dis eases stated above,Quaker Herb Extract, a preparation that is purely vegetable and is made from a combination of herbs, roots, barks, berries, leaves and blossoms. This remedy has been before the public for years and has always been sold, as it is now, under a guarantee to do exactly what is claimed for it,# or the purchase money will be refunded.
This guarantee is made at the V. L. Early Drug Store with every bottle sold and the medicine must certainly have great merit, or it could not have remained on the market for the dumber of years that it has. 7
The Health Teacher contends that he could talk for the rest of his natural days and it would not alter the fact] that it is the medicine that cures and not the man,' and be states that he will publish a number of testimonials of local people who be knows will be benefited )by the
