The Hosek chimney factory at Shirley is not having the success anticipated in the use of crude oil as fuel, but they hope to succeed in their experiment as soon as other improvements are made in the burners.
Q. A. Wright, the trustee of Vernon township, has started a wagon to. convey the pupils, who heretofore attended the McKay school house, to the MoCordsville schools.' It is belieyed this new plan will give entire satisfaction.
i, The Vernon National Gras Co. has brought in another good gas well on the Washington Fort farm, and as a natural consequence the stock-holders are feeling that they are comfortably fixed for fuel this coming winter.

Carter, Prohibitionist, 212 votes Robert Jackman, Socialist, 7 votes. U. S. JacksonDemocratic candidate for Congress, received 2,820 votes James E. Watson, Repub. iican, 2,644 votes. The candidate on the People's ticket, 16 votes, and the Socialist Labor candidate, 200 votes. The total vote for electors-at-large in the county was 5,676.—Hancock Democrat.

The members of the high school foot ball team were disappointed this afternoon when they discovered the game with Irvington had been called off. It was decided to attempt to get the players over on the 3 o'clock car, but they could not make the connection.
A male quartette from Irvington will sing at the Sunday School of the Bradley M. E. Church to.morrow morning. Rev. Martin's subject in the morning will be "The Glory of the Church." The choir will give a Sacred Concert in the evening. *./
