Jacob V. Cottey, who sells bread throughout this city, from a wagon, has a muzzle on his horse. In muzzling his horse, Mr. Cottey sets an example which should be followed by every person who has a delivery wagon or dray in this city. The citizens of Greenfield generally take great pride in their lawns, shade trees and flowers, and they do not like to have them damaged and destroyed by tbe carelessness of drivers and delivery boys in leaving horses to graze and browse upon the lawns and trees while making deliveries. Nothing makes a proud owner of a nice new home mad quicker than for a delivery boy or a drayman to allow his horse to bark a nice shade tree just beginning to grow or to cut up and tear down a nice lawn just graded and sodded at great expense. A man who careless ly does such things should not be patronized and there should be some way of compelling him to repair the damage. Such offenses are too common.
Most of the public questions formerly settled by the village debating societies are now pushed up to the Chautauqua assemblies for solution.
It is hard for Judge Alton B. Parker to become reconciled to his defeat in 1904. He is still going over the old issues and putting up the fight of his iife.

The big fortune left by Russell Sage will eventually be devoted to charitable purposes. Uncle Russell's heart was in the right place, but his hand wouldn't let go.
