When persons look at the boys who constitute our soldiery of our country as the citizens of Greenfield saw them Thursday evening, camped in this city, they are inclined to think that boys of that kind could not endure the exposure of a severe war. These boys are however just the kind of soldiers that fought on both sides of the civil war, which was one of the greatest wars of the civilized world. The greatest difference between the soldiers of the present time and those of the civil war is that those of today are better ordered and better equipped than those of forty years ago. There are no better soldiers in the world than the United States soldiers of today.

Threatened, men sometimes live long, but the sentence of death which the Russian revolutionists have passed on Nicholas II and on several of his subordinates is not accepted lightly by those personages. In more than one instance since the risings in Russia began in 1905 the men marked for slaughter by the revolutionists have been slaughtered. The Czar knows this. Knowing it, he will stick close to his bomb proof until the clouds roll by.^

Secretary Loeb has the office routine so systemized by this time than any renomination rumor about President Roosevelt can be denied by return mail.

Just what cause there is for the Salvador-Guatemala war is not apparent. However, down in that section, nations do not need to have a cause to go to war.
