John T. and W. P. Johnson were out yesterday to see Pearl Parish, who has been sick for several days with pneumonia. He shows no improvement.

A committee of Red Men went to Charlottesville yesterday to visit a member of their order, Wm. Johnson, who has two children seriously ill with lung fever.

Several cases of pneumonia are reported by the physicians in this city.. "It seems that every month has its own particular ailment for the people," said a physician today.

The annual sale of 'property by the Auditor for delinquent taxes will not be as large this year ae in former years. Greenfield will have more than all the rest of the county.—Hancock Democrat.

Tomorrow evening will be the installation of the newly elecled officer of the Order of the Eastern Star. A full attendance of the members is desired as a good time is anticipated. Refreshments will be served.

At Rushville Saturday the prosecuting attorney and city marshal waited on the manager of the Black Crook company at the opera house in that city and ordered them to cut all objec tionable stuff under penalty of of arrest. The ply was consequently out so completely that there was but little left.

While in the postoffice lobby a few days ago Ed Hart, of West Main street, was heard to say "Sixty-nine years ago I was born in an old building that stood right here. It was learned that he was the third white child born in this city, everybody conceding Jared Meek to have been the first.

W. C. Goble has introduced some new methods into the Christian Sunday school that are favorably received- For instance the progress of music, etc., is posted on a blackboard and a public record is made of the officers and teachers present, collections, attendance, etc. Sunday the collection $4.60 and attendance 195.

Morgan Caraway, former representative from Hatocock county in the Indiana legislature and now a citizen of Muskogee, Indian Territory, has lost out in his race for appointment as United States Marshal for the Western District of Indian Territory. Mr. Caraway had influential backing, but it seems that the President virtually had the place promised when he got into the race. Knightstown Banner.

Mrs. W. M. Small is receiving much notice from her splendid samples of needle work that she has exhibited and sold at Marshall Field & Co's., Chicago and John Wannamaker's at Philadelphia. A number of her pieces have sold at fancy prices.

Twenty-five intimate friends of Miss Mamie Moore enjoyed a delightful evening Saturday at here elegant home on West Main street at a party that was planned and executed in a "surprisingly" successful manner. The members of the party met at the home of W. S. Montgomery, just across the street, and went over to the Moore home at 8 o'clock.

James Mack's farce comedy company will come to Gant's opera house Monday night witli the successful play, "Taming a Husband." It is said to be the same company that was so successful in Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Dayton. It is full of funny situations, songs, dances, pretty music, handsome costums and scenery, and affords a merry evening's entertainment. Prices have been reduced for this occasion to 25, 35 and 50 cents and seats are now on sale at Selman's drug store.,

The naorning train to Indianapolis was an hour late and dozen or more traveling men starting on their trips impatiently stamped about in the snow until she pulled in.

Passengers on the car that left Indianapolis Saturday evening at 4 o'clock were treated to an aggravated delay of an hour in that city while the car was switched here and there, caused by the trucks failing to take the curves. The car arrived here about 6 o'clock.

The Hesperian club met last Saturday afternoon with Mrs. D. M. Stewart of North Noble street. It was "Reciprocity Day." Papers were read by Mrs. B. F, Bowen\and Mrs. ClaraStrickland on theBible' and the Bible in the schools. This was followed by an interesting discussion that was followed by general conversation on corporate ideas.

The little people who were so graciously remembered by the Eagles at their Christmas tree recently with sleds and other winter paraphernalia are enjoying the outfit to the fullest extent. This is the first opportunity they have had to put their sleds into service and they were out with the hundred or more long before half the population were out bed this morning.
