Mrs. Ben Porter went to Cumberland yesterday to remain two or three weeks with her mother, Mrs. Eleanor Downing, who is in poor health. Mrs. Downing is eighty-three years old.
Rev. J. R. Moody went to Indianapolis this morning to meet his daughter, Miss Effie, who returned home this morning from Stinesville where she has been visiting relatives several weeks.
Mrs. Ella Bogue and two children, of Washington, Kan., arrived Friday evening and are the guests of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Duncan, of South East street. They will visit relatives in this county for a few weeks.

Albert S Scotten, one of the prosperous farmers of Buck Creek township, was in Greenfield today and called at this office. He brought with him a sample of yellow corn which he raised this year which is very fine. He got the seed *of the eorn in Shelby county. He did not know the name of the corn, but it is generally called the World's Fair Corn. It has been raised in Illinois for several years and large crops of it have been known to average ninetyeight bushels to the acre.
