Teacher Said

"He thought he needed glasses" is becoming quite a familiar expression of parents who bring their children to us for examination. This is encouraging, in, that it shows the intellectual superiority of the present teacher to the "skule master" of fifty years ago, he would have sent the child home with the message, "He couldn't say his letters, better use the gad." The "dull pupil" is often so because of weak eyes.

City Treasurer, W. G. Smith while driving on North street last evening, had his buggy-top partially torn off by a wire which some workmen for the telephone company had tied across the street in putting in a line. The wire had swagged and hence was low enough to catch the buggy top. The accident might have been much more serious. Too great care cannot be exercised in regard to tieing wires across the street.
