A number of young lavyers and law students of ^this city are organizing a Moot Court Society. They meet next Monday night at the office of Elden A. Robb. The object of their work is to familiarize themselves more thoroughly with pleadings and the trial court by the actual experience. We predict for them much success.

Col. James B. Black, of Indianapolis, is a candidate for the nomination for Appellate Judge before the Republican State convention. Col. Black filled the office by appointment for a time and was nominated for it by the Republican convention at Ft. Wayne in 1892. but went down in the general Republican defeat that year. He is an able lawyer and well qualified for the position He is a brother of R. A. Black, of this city.

Judge U. Z. Wiley, of Fowler, Benton county, is a candidate for the Republican nomination for Appellate Judge from his district. Judge Wiley is one of the most able and popular urists in the State. As a practicing attorney he had few equals in his part of the State, and always commanded a big business. He is an able and eloquent speaker, a good mixer and has taken a leading part as a State campaigner fcr many years. He would make a splendid candidate.

Don't Delay, Bui Insure.

The business man, the professional man, the mechanic, the farmer and the day laborer, protect their families with Fidelity Life Insurance, because it is gotten at the lowest minimum of cost and gives absolute and unquestioned security. Another good criterion is that every Fidelity policy is an advertisement, and no policy holder in this company is lacking in enthusiasm for insurance. For rates, plans, etc., call on or address,

Medical Writers.

The best medical writers claim ihat the successful remedy for nasal catarrh must be non-irritating, easy of application, and one that will, by its own action reach all the remote sores and ulcerated surfaces. The history of the efforts to treat catarrh during the past few years proves that only one remedy has met these conditions, and that is Century Catarrh Cure. This safe and pleasant remedy hai mastered Catarrh as nothing else has ever done, and both physicians and surgeons concede this fact. The most distressing symptons yield to it. A Small Fire,

Wednesday night an alarm of fire was turned in from South State street. The fire department was soon on the scene and.go the Are under control with but little trouble. The house was almost burned down before the alarm was given. It belonged to the Hauck heirs and was occupied by Arthur and Dud Richey Their household goods were nearly all saved. The effective work of the fire department prevented the spread of the fire to a number of other houses.

The Shakespearean Entertainment. The Shakespearean entertainment given bv Mr. and s. C. W. Liadley, at the Opera House last evening was a very enjoyable affair. They gave a number of scenes from the play of Othello and Macbeth, which were well renderel and highly appreciated. Near the close while giving a scene from Hamlet the alarm of fire in the city caused a stampede. After the audience quieted the entertainment closed with a reading by Mr. Lindley of a selection from Col. Ingersoll. Mr. Lindley is exceptionally good as a portrayer of Othello and Hamlet and his wife is also quite good.

The Other Siue of the Case.

EDITOR REPUBLICAN:—The notice in yebterda.v,s paper concerning the difficulty at the High school building was somewhat exaggerated no doubt on account of the reports of excited spectators. The facts of the matter are that tt Seniors placed some quotations on the blackboard which the Juniors attempted to erase. Some of the Senior boys attempted to prevent them and a scuffle followed, which although it was rough, was entirely of a friendly nature.

The report that anyone was sevei ely hurt, was entirely wrong. Instead of being caused by anger, it was entirely due to the great enthusiasm of each class. The Senior class is very sorry that the difficulty occurred. SENIORS.

We have no doubt that no savage intentions were held by any of the participants. They were simply putting on a few college and university airs in advance. In college, slugging matches "just for fun" are common, but there is a growing tendency among the faculties of the various colleges to see that such "funny business" is discontinued.

A Sure Pile Care.

Acme Remedy Co., Greenfield, Ind., Gentlemen: For years I have been a sufferer from itching piles, some three months ago I was induced by reading testimonials of prominent Greenfield citizens)recommending your ointment for that disease, to give it a trial. I secured a box and was amply repaid for my outlay the first night I used it, and want to say it is the best remedy I ever saw, for since that day I have had no symptoms of the disease.
