Mo'nday bein^ pay day at the non union bottle bouse of ^treeter & Co., a gang of as tough looking people as you ever saw, beaded by a ne^ro, came to to A II in a drunken condition and went to ffield's saloon and HSIU for something to «ni.k, when ttiey were flatly refused by the propuetor, who told them they could gee nothing aud that he valued his room more than their mouey. hey went outside aud commenced to talk very 1 ud, to wh»ch Utt'-e h»*ei was paid until one of'hem fl uris el a revolver.

The Marshal gave his man r.o understand that no such persons as he was could run Grebnfleld, and that if he did not at once get in hiding he would laud him in jail.

Iris to be deplored that a proprietor will employ a lot o' bums, and arm them and then turn them loose upon tbe streets ••very ly-day to uet drnnk and quarrel among themselves and with o'hers, tbu* jeopardising the liv^s of the citizens at the hands of a drunken mob.

Don't Sell the Hell.

EDITOR REPUBLICAN:— DEAH SIR:—Isee by the Commissioners' advertisement ti at "one bell" is to be sold May 12, 1896 Th.s must be the court hoa3e bell. Why should this bell be sold? This bell is historic it has done service in the old court hou^e f^r about forty years. The memories that surround this old bell are numerous. It has tolled the funerals of m*ny of our citizens it has called the people together on many occasions it pealed out. the alarm that Fort Suinpter had been fired upon by armed foes its tones are as good as when it drst souale I a note. L*it ua keep this bell, swing it in some place in our large tie* court-house so its peals may again be heard on the Fourth days of July, Deco ration Days aud all days devoted to patriotism and public occasions. Don't sell this dear old bell. Keep «t as a relic of the past and a source of enjoyment to the living. When they hear this old bell, all may remember what sad and joyous meetings it has called together. Why se 1 this dear old bell? Is Hancock county not able to own this bell? I' it cannot be put into the tower of the court-house, put it on the jail. If it cannot be nut on the jail place it on the City Building for a fire alarm, but don't sell the dear old bell.

Medical Writers

The best wiedical writers claim ihat the successful remedy for nasal catarrh mu.it be non-irrirating, easy of app ication, and one that will, by its own action reach all the remote sores and ulcerated surfaces. The history of the efforts to treat catarrh during the past few years proves thU only one remedy has met these conditions, and that is Century Catarrh Cure. This safe aud plea-ani remedy ha mastered Catarrh as nothing else has ever done, and both physicians and sirgeons concede this fact. The most distressing symptons yield to it.
