Constable Charles Huston went to Maxwell Jast night and arrested Orval Clark son'of Henry Clark, for assault and battery on Willie Jacobs. Clark was tried before Squire Finnell and fined and costed $13 25. The fine was stayed by his father.

Mildred Lucas, the little el cut'oniat, from Iridiinnpolis, is wonderful for a child of her age Little Le ia Moxley, who sang twice, has a marvelous voice for oue so young. It should be carefully cultivated. Songs were also rendered by iNlr. and Mrs. Horace Barnett aud Mr. aud Mis Allen Cooper as a iarf t?tte and Misses Rosa Davis and Pearl Wiggins and Mr. Millisou.
Eight little girls who looked charming, sweet «nd pretty, san^ several songs and one in which they wore their night robes was especially cute. The entertainment wound up with a tab eaux in which the e*ght little tots with their dolls were all snugly tucked in bed. The proceeds were over $12.00.
Private School.
Owing to the shortness of the public school*, a private school will be opened by several of tbe teachers of the city 8t-ho3ls beginning April 20, for a term of six weeks at the West building.
This school will be with the consent and approbation of the School Board and Superintendent, and all work done by the pupils will receive dne credit.
The prices are for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, $1 25 per month. All grades above the 4 h, $1 35 par month. There will be taught in connection wit the 1st grade a half day Kiudergarten at 25 cents per week. Further notice of school will be given later.

Clara Fries were united in marriage by Rev. W. M. Gard. There were only a few relatives and intimate friends present. Mr. Barr is a brother of Ex-coun-cilman Jno. A. Barr, and the bride *s a daughter of the late Parson Fries. She is a most excellent lady with many friends who will be sorry to see her leave Greenfield. They will depart for their western home tbe tint of the week where it is the REPUBLICANS wish that joy and prosperity may attend them.
