J. G. Duncan, of Indianapolis, but formerly of Greenfield, was here on business today. Mr. D. reports his family as all well. His daughter, Ethel, had the diphtherie this winter but autitoxine brought her through nicely.
There were two ad litions to'the Christian church yesterday evening. Nine were immersed at the close of the service. There will be preaching tonight in order that those immersed last evening may be received into fellowship. Subject tcnight—"Stumbling Blocks."
Special meetings at the M. P. church tonight. Preaching at 7 o'clock. Taere were two bright conversions at the alter yesterday afternoon, and seven came forward and joined the church last night. The formal reception of members will take place next Friday night.

Miss Gertrude LaFever, who has been a guest of Prof. J. E. Mack and wife for several days, returned to her home in Union City today. She is a pretty and charming young lady as well as a magnificent singer. While here she delighted the audiences at the Christian church by her splendid singing.

Ham L. Strickland has sold his stock of stoves, hardware, etc which occupied the west room in the old Masonic block to the fltrn of Black & Gordon and will hereafter not be in that business. Mr. Strickland will however continue in the grocery business in the room which he nas occupied for years in that line. Mr. Strickland is one of Greenfield's moot popular and successful business men.

Tne Men Arrested Yestenlay Not Tlie McCordsville 'iliteves.
The men whom the officers tracked from McCordsville 5e3terday with D. B. Teter's blood-liuuuds, were arrested by »Geo. Bingham at the bottle factory yesterday evening and were taken to the Sheriff's office aud searched, but nothing was found on them that was missiDg from
McCordsville. The men said that on Monday night they stayed at the Big Four Hotel, in AndersoD, and came to Iugalls yesterday morning and then came here fiom there. They had cash fare receipts from Anderson to Iugalls and seemed well supplied with money. They gave their names as John Reeil and Frank Cook and were turned loose after a rigid examination by Sheriff Pauley. The men are bottle-blowers and went to work at the factory last night.
Indicted for Assault and Uattery With Intent to kill. Robert and Chas. Railsback, who participated in a riot at a church at Nashville, this county about a year ago, in which the janitor, Jack Kennedy was almost killed, and for which Vern Price, Henry Stickler, Leonard Robb and Frank Railsback were confined in the County jail for about three months, came to this city vhis morning for trial. Tbe prosecuting attorney stated that the cases against them were based upon information and as indictments for assault and battery with intent to kill, have since been found against them by the grand jury he preferred to nolly the cases and try them on the indictments found by the grand jury and they gave bond in the sum of $800 each.
Henry Stickler, Vern Price and Frank Railsback came with them as witnesses. Railsback was arrested again upon the charge of assault and battery with in* tent to kill and disturbing a reiigious meeting a ad released upon his own recognizance. Price and Stickler fearing the Bame fate, hastily left town.
A Fox Drive in Blue River Township.
Bills are posted announcing a grand fox drive in Blue River township next Saturday, Feb 29, centering on 01 Binford's farm, southeast of Westland. The boundaries are: north line, road south of railroad east line, Six Mile creek and county line sonth line, road running by Gates school house and west line, Range line pike running by Westland store. William Elsbury is the grand marshal for the day, Guns and dogs prohibited.

Dr. J. E. Lumris was at Indianapolis last Tuesday. James M. Jacobs will be with us again iu the dry goods bu iness as soon as the room is vacated, the one he formerly occupied.
F. A. Gordon was called to the bed side of his father who was dying at his daughter's home iu Mariou, last Monday.
Rev. Wm. H. Curtis who is collecting for Dr. J. H. Justice, of Greenfield, says collections are poor but promises are many.
We have been informed by good authority that the Big Four R. R. vill build the line from Maxwell to Greenfield if the people of the latter city will get a move on themselves.

Henry and Richard Braddock, were thrown out of their buggy, one day last week eaused by their horse getting scared at a hand-car. Henry, had three ribs and his collar bone broken. Richard, had no bones broken but was badly bruised.
The carrying of the miil between Millner Corner and thi3 place was given John Shipley. One year seems to satisfy Charles, with the burdon.
Dr. Tucker and wife, of Boone County, spent Saturday anb Sunday with George Hull and family. Mr. Tucker would like to locate in old Hansock and will if he can find a desirable place.
Noah, comes over regular regardless of the weather. Chas. Elmore,, is quite well of the measles.
Miss Mearl Walker, has the measles. Miss Cora Thomas is bettor. Chas. Record, £undayed with pareata* near McCordsville.
C. F. Smith and wife, were called to see his Grandmother, Cembs, Sunday who fell a few days ago and broke her arm.

Fathers Nichols and Clark are the most quiet citesens, we have. They tend strictly to their own business. They are never seen filling one of the loafing chairs or heard speaking a harsh work of any one. Father Nichols is close to 90 years of age and Is enjoying good health.
