Mcxcie, Ind., March 2S.—The Grand Army had possession of Muncie yesterday and the great parade of the department encampment, which occurred in the afternoon, was the most brilliant spectacle ever witnessed in the city. There were full}' 10,000 visitors in the city, including the veterans, and the demonstration was a most gratifying success.

New Albany, Ind.. March 28.—Hugo Bell, the man of mystery, as he was known by his friends, died in the United Charities hospital here after a short illness. Bell was about 50, a Hungarian by birth and came to this city about 12 years ago.

April 5th, a Demorest Oratorical contest will be held in this place under the auspices of the W. C. T. U. Several young ladies who now hold silver medals, will compete for a gold medal.
Mr. A. King, of Carmel, was here this week visiting with his friend, Rev. Chas. W. Hiatt, of Fairmount, who waa holdrevival services at the Friends' church. Both gentlemen left for home to-day.

Rev. Thos, Holding, of Westland, who has just held successful revivals with two of the Friends' church in Henry co., has left for Champaign, 111., to begin a meeting there with the city Mission church. Rev. HolcliDg is an earnest worker.
Marshal Smith and C. M. Kirkpatrick were at Noblesville Tuesday. The citizens there are much pleased with contractor Kirks work on the brick streets there and want him to bid on a mile of brick street to be put in this summer. f0:
W. A. Watson has sold a half interest in his barber shop in the Dudding-Moore block to Win. Kirtpatrick of Wilkinson, who has had five years experience in the business. Mr. K. £is a competeut workman and a clever gentlemau. He takes possession next Monday.
Last Sunday was the 33d biithlay of Charles Tague. While he was out driving 24 of friends gathered in and had everything in readiness for a sumptuous dinnf on his return. Every one had a very p!eas-:-mt time and wished him many happy returns.
The Prudential Insurance Company, that makes a specialty of insuring the lives of children, have ops-nod up an oflioe in the room over \V. S. Cant's grocery. 'J. L. Williams, Im imbridge City, u'iil have charge of the business here. He will move his family here April 1. Fred Xtal and P. S. Sh ruder will con tinue to work with Mr. Williams.

Elder Smith commenced a meeting at Morrisiown 1 u-t Sunday and we predict a general axvalining in religious work there.
